Alternative Mekanisms
Have you ever wanted to use Mekanism's powerful alloys and gear, but felt overwhelmed by the complex production chains and multi-block machines? Alternative Mekanisms is for you.
This mod provides a straightforward, alternative progression path that allows you to craft key items directly in the crafting grid. It's designed specifically for players who want to enjoy the benefits of Mekanism's resources without investing heavily in the technical side of the mod.
The Trade-Off: Simplicity vs. Efficiency
This convenience comes with a cost. To maintain game balance, the direct crafting recipes enabled by this mod are intentionally less efficient than the standard machine-based methods. You will need more raw resources to create the same items.
This creates a meaningful choice:
-
Invest Time & Tech: Build the traditional Mekanism machines for maximum resource efficiency.
-
Invest More Resources: Use the simple crafting method to get items faster and with less hassle, but at a higher material cost.
How It Works
Alternative Mekanisms adds a new, special tool to the game. This tool is the key to unlocking the new crafting recipes.
-
Craft the Tool: First, you must craft the unique tool from this mod.
-
Use it in the Crafting Grid: Place the tool in a crafting grid along with the necessary (and increased amount of) materials for an alloy.
-
Craft Your Alloy: The recipe will yield the desired alloy, and the tool will take durability damage.
This method allows you to completely bypass the need for early-game machines like the Metallurgic Infuser if you have the resources to spare.
Current Features
-
Machine-Free Alloy Crafting: All of Mekanism's core alloys can now be created in a standard crafting table.
-
A New Crafting Tool: A durable, key item that enables these new recipes.
-
Balanced with Higher Costs: The direct crafting recipes require more input materials, making machine processing the more resource-efficient choice in the long run.
Our Philosophy
This mod is for the builders, the adventurers, and the players who love Mekanism's aesthetic and gear but prefer a less industrial playstyle. We believe in providing options, and Alternative Mekanisms gives you the freedom to engage with Mekanism on your own terms.
