Create: Smoke Stacks

Adds smoke to running Create steam boilers, plus a set of connectable chimney blocks to route that smoke wherever you want.

If you run steam power in Create, your boilers currently just sit there silently. This mod gives them a visible sign of life: while a boiler is actually running, smoke rises from it, and how much smoke you get scales with how hard the boiler is working.

What it does

• Boilers smoke while running. Any Create fluid tank set up as a steam boiler (heat + water + attached engines/whistles) puffs out campfire-style smoke from its open top while it's active.

• Smoke intensity matches boiler level. This uses the same effective boiler level Create's own goggle overlay shows (the minimum of heat, water, and boiler size). A high-level boiler (9+) puts out a tall "signal" plume; a boiler that's only just getting by gives off a light wisp.

• Smoke Stack block. A flue pipe segment that auto-connects to neighbouring segments in any direction, including corners and T-junctions. Build a duct network from the top of a boiler and the smoke exits at the open ends of the pipe instead of the bare tank — vertical ends get a flared chimney cap, horizontal ends puff smoke out sideways. A stack can also be mounted flush against the side of a boiler, whistle-style, and a copper mounting plate renders automatically wherever a segment meets a tank.

• Large Smoke Stack block. A full-width industrial chimney that stacks with itself and can connect to regular Smoke Stacks. An open large-stack end puts out a wider, heavier column of smoke (double the normal share); multiple open ends split the smoke between them.

Compatibility

• Works with Sable / Create Aeronautics: smoke correctly follows moving Sable structures, so a flying steam-powered airship smokes properly in flight.
• If a redstone-enabled Aeronautics steam vent is mounted on a boiler, that boiler's chimney smoke is suppressed automatically (the steam is being vented there instead). This is a soft dependency detected at runtime Aeronautics is not required for the mod to work.

Before you download

• Requires Create 6.0.0 or newer and NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. It is an add-on, not a standalone mod Create must be installed alongside it.
