Chunk & Subchunk Tagging

Store persistent tags directly on chunks or individual 16-block-tall subchunks using /tagchunk.

The built-in invulnerability tag can protect areas from:

  • Block interaction by unauthorized players
  • Explosions and TNT
  • Falling block damage

Tags support custom values and player bypass lists, allowing protected regions while still granting access to trusted players.

Custom tags can also be utilized by other mods through the Fabric Utility API.

Nicknames & MiniMessage

Fabric Utility includes a complete nickname system with history tracking, administrative controls, and full MiniMessage support.

Features include:

  • Colors and gradients
  • Hover text
  • Click events
  • Formatting decorations
  • Nickname history
  • Administrative nickname management

Nicknames automatically appear in:

  • Chat
  • Join and leave messages
  • Nameplates
  • Tab list names
  • Jade tooltips
  • Proxy chat channels
Proximity Chat & Chat Areas

Built-in proxy chat provides multiple communication channels without requiring additional mods.

Available chat modes:

  • Local Chat
  • World Chat
  • Area Chat

Additional features include:

  • Chat pinning
  • Do Not Disturb mode
  • Configurable chat ranges
  • Named chat areas

Chat areas integrate directly with the chunk tagging system for simple management and persistence.

Inscriber Item Editor

The Inscriber allows players and administrators to customize item names and descriptions directly in-game.

Using MiniMessage formatting, items can receive:

  • Custom names
  • Multi-line descriptions
  • Colors and gradients
  • Advanced formatting

Perfect for roleplay servers, custom rewards, shop items, events, and administrative tools.

Entity Petting

Shift-right-click living entities with an empty hand to pet them.

The petting system includes:

  • Custom sounds
  • Heart particles
  • Entity blacklists
  • Tag-based sound overrides
  • Gamerule support
  • Mod Menu integration

Everything can be customized through configuration files, commands, or Mod Menu.

Administration Tools

Fabric Utility provides several tools designed for server moderation and administration.

Features include:

  • Ban Hammer NBT support
  • Protected area management
  • Nickname moderation
  • Administrative command logging
  • In-game configuration editing

Most settings can be managed without restarting the server.

Configuration & Mod Menu Integration

Server settings can be viewed, edited, synchronized, and reloaded directly in-game.

When Mod Menu is installed:

  • Client settings can be edited visually
  • Server operators can modify server settings through a GUI
  • Changes are validated before being applied
  • Settings automatically synchronize to connected clients

Legacy configuration files are migrated automatically.

Developer API

Fabric Utility includes a public API that allows other mods to integrate with its systems.

Available integrations include:

  • Chunk tag access
  • Chunk tag modification
  • Custom tag behavior registration
  • Nickname lookups
  • Nickname updates
  • Nickname change events

This makes it easy for developers to build upon existing Fabric Utility functionality.
