This mod adds tons of new slabs and stairs, as well as quarter blocks for most vanilla blocks and they can be placed in every orientation, including vertically. They can also be freely combined in the same blockspace.

Description

Welcome to SAS - The Slabs and Stairs mod! This mod adds tons of new Slabs, Stairs and Quarter blocks to the game. All of these are variants of vanilla blocks.

But there is more to it: All of the blocks added by this mod, can be placed in every orientation! That means, the slabs and stairs can be placed vertically! Additionally they can be freely combined, independent of the material they are made of! For example, you can combine a stone slab with a birch planks slab in one block. Another example would be the combination of a spruce planks stair with a gold block quarter. You can even combine two different quarters to form a slab or three to form a stair-shape or even 4 of them all in one block!

Placement of the blocks is improved, as a visual preview shows how a block is about to be placed and a configurable key can be held down to enter a special placement mode. While in this mode a second key can be pressed to cycle through all available orientations of the block.
This only works for the blocks added by this mod.

Crafting is also made easier in this mod.
All of the mods blocks can be crafted in the 2x2 crafting grid in your inventory!
They can also all be crafted in the stonecutter!
Furthermore, broken-down blocks can be crafted together again, to get the original block back! Two quarters (of the same type) can craft a slab. Three can craft a stair. A slab and a quarter of the same type can craft a stair. And a stair and a quarter can craft the original block again. This also works by combining two slabs of the same type.
Combining only blocks of the same type in the world, also creates the other variants of the type, all the way to the original block!

The crafting recipes are also balance in terms of the material they use.
No more loosing of material by only getting 4 stairs from 6 full blocks! Now you get 8 stairs for 6 full blocks, or 4 stairs for 3 full blocks!
Careful, though! Crafting in a stonecutter can leave you with less than the input!

This mod is currently in developement!
I am currently working on versions for minecraft 1.18.2 and the forge mod loader!
An update to 1.19.x is planned, but will happen only AFTER the 1.18.2 developement is complete/near completion.

Pre-release versions, such as beta and alpha versions may be unstable and/or contain many bugs!
Alpha versions are indicated by the letter a at the end of the version number.
Betas have the letter b at the end of the version number.
Release versions will have the letter r at the end of the version number.

This mod should work fine alongside others, but there currently is no integration with other mods.

The release notes on github contain a list of known bugs.
Do NOT report bugs on this list. Doing so will not get them fixed any faster and can only result in frustration on my side and thus slow down progress on the developement.
