About
Description
Sleight of Skills is a 1.20.1-based datapack, using Pufferfish's Skills and Attributes mods to provide intuitive, vanilla-friendly skill trees with balance and ease of use in consideration.
The trees are designed in a fluent manner, meaning you can see the path you will take for each skill in a linear path. Each skill is carefully balanced to reflect a vanilla+ modded setup, similarly to my modpack, Ascendant Tales. Each skill provided in this datapack is intended to be used as a passive means to providing slight bonuses to your existing attributes, in order to prevent you from becoming overpowered.
SKILL TREES
Each skill tree is detailed below, with the skills and attributes acquirable within each tree.
Gaining Experience
Experience gain is based on EXP levels and points, meaning any progression you make to your characters level will attribute to your skill tree levels. Losing the EXP, I.E when you die, does not negate progress in the skill trees.
Gaining experience for each tree is defined by the tree type, I.E. performing combative actions will provide experience gain in the Combat Tree, or mining diamond ore will provide experience gain in the Mining Tree.
Mining Skill Tree
The root of the mining tree determines what starting attribute you will have, meaning you can only choose one branch of this tree.
- Golden Pickaxes represent a mining speed increase.
- Triple Hearts represent a max health increase.
- Single Hearts represent health regeneration bonus.
- Diamonds represent a fortune increase.
- Up Arrows represent increased jump height.
Each opposing skill on the top and bottom are exclusive to each other, meaning you can not choose both, rather one or the other.

Combat Skill Tree
The combat skill tree is a little bit different, as you can choose both paths. This is simply because you should be able to use both a bow and sword, not for RPG purposes, but general vanilla purposes.
The beginning root skills both provide a 5% damage increase to melee and ranged.
- Swords represent a percentage-based increase to melee damage.
- Bows represent a percentage-based increase to ranged melee.
- Triple Hearts represent a max health increase.
- Single Hearts represent health regeneration bonus.
- Food represents an increase to stamina.
- Boots represent an increase to movement speed.
- Shields represent an increase to damage resistance.
- Up Arrows represent increased jump height.
