About

Description

Spice of Life: Pomegranate Edition

Spice of Life: Pomegranate Edition is a fork of Spice of Life: Carrot Edition and Spice of Life: Classic Edition. This mod aims to encourage players to diversify their diet, avoiding the situation where they eat the same food from the start of the game all the way to the end. This is particularly important for the hundreds of new food items added in large modpacks.

What is the difference between it and the Carrot Edition and Classic Edition?

The Carrot Edition encourages dietary diversity by rewarding players for eating a variety of foods, rather than punishing them for not doing so. The Classic Edition, on the other hand, primarily pushes for dietary diversity through penalties. The Pomegranate Edition aims to combine the strengths of both by implementing a system of parallel rewards and penalties to avoid a one-sided approach. It also introduces new mechanics to enhance both the rewards and penalties, improving the overall modpack experience.

New Mechanics

Penalties
After eating a specific food 6 times (referred to as X), saturation and hunger restoration are reduced by 50%.
After eating it X+1 times (referred to as Y), the food's restoration is reduced to 1.
After eating it Y+1 times (referred to as Z), the restoration becomes 0.
After eating it Z+1 times, the Hunger effect is applied for 5 seconds, Level I.
After eating it Z+3 times, Hunger and Nausea are applied for 10 seconds, Level II.
After eating it Z+5 times, Hunger, Nausea, and Weakness are applied for 20 seconds, Level III
After eating it Z+10 times, Mining Fatigue and Weakness are applied for 60 seconds, Level V.
After eating it Z+20 times, Nausea is applied for 60 seconds, Level V.

Picky Eating: Tooltips will be modified based on the penalty section.
"Tastes good": 0-5 times
"Tastes okay": 6-9 times
"I don't want to eat this anymore!": 10-12 times
"Disgusting": More than 12 times

*Added these texts, inspired by The Betweenlands.

Rewards
After eating 3 different types of food (referred to as A), a random positive effect is awarded for 5 seconds, Level I.
After eating A+4 different types of food (referred to as B), a random positive effect is awarded for 10 seconds, Level II.
After eating B+5 different types of food, a random positive effect is awarded for 20 seconds, Level III.
After eating 15 different types of food, a random positive effect is awarded for 60 seconds, Level III.

Reset:
Only records 150 types of food that have been eaten, then resets.

Reason for Creation?
This is a mod customized for the modpack. To maintain optimal customizability, a new branch was created and new mechanics were introduced.
