Description
Egdog 8 (Don't ask about the first 7) is a modpack that is designed to organically simulate the techonological development of human civilisation, from the stone age, to the space age. If you enjoy modpacks like RLCraft and Aged, but wished it was more realistic or had too many fantasy elements, then this modpack is for you.
This is an idea that I've wanted to do for ages, and I've finally gotten the opportunity to do this properly. I'd really like feedback from players about gameplay and how to improve it.
The early game is rather difficult, with No Tree Punching which will slow down your progression, Tough as Nails which introduces temperature and thirst so that you have more systems to manage, and Body Health System, which makes nighttime more dangerous because one shot to the head, and your dead. You only have 10 lives by the way (courtesy of Limited Lives). Overworld structures have also been removed, which makes the game even harder.
If you survive the early game, you will hopefully settle down and start farming, with the help of Serene Seasons and Farmer's Delight, which will give you reasons to pay more attention to farming. But beware of Flowing Fluids and Immersive Weathering, as they can really put a dampener on your progress if you don't know how to deal with them. Farming will also be helpful due to the addition of Carts, which finally adds use for horses as they will help you to farm.
Explore with the help of An Atlas and Valkyrien Skies and Eureka aided by Distant Horizons if your CPU can handle it. (This is the most tricky stage to implement as there isn't that much incentive for you to explore so I'd like feedback on this)
Hopefully your exploration has provided you with enough resources to industrialise using Create and several addons, such as Steam and Rails and Diesel generators. Use this newfound rotational power to make cars and planes, added by Trackwork and Clockwork respectively.
Take your factories to the next level with Create New Age and Create Crafts and Additions, which will mean you can use forge energy and really supercharge your technology. There are also mailboxes as well.
Then, use the forge energy provided to you to use the technology from Ad Astra and several of its addons to explore the Stars.
To help with multiplayer, Essential and Simple Voice Chat have been installed to easy communicate.
Obviously, there is no easy way to encourage the player to do any of these things in this order; you may even skip a few steps! But I hope that I have made the modpack challenging enough to be enjoyable but not rage inducingly hard, and I hope you have fun immersiving yourself in the huge tech-tree of these mods.
