Description
Action Echo
Your past doesn’t disappear. It catches up.
Action Echo records your movement and important gameplay actions, then replays them through shadows from your past.
At first, one shadow follows safely behind you. But as Minecraft days pass, the delay becomes shorter, the timeline becomes unstable, and additional shadows begin to appear. Eventually, up to ten versions of your past can retrace your movement and repeat your actions at the same time.
What gets repeated?
Action Echo can record and replay:
- Breaking blocks
- Placing and using blocks
- Attacking entities
- Interacting with entities
- Using items
- Firing projectiles
- Taking damage, when enabled
- Player movement, rotation, poses and equipment
If an action can no longer be performed—for example, because its original target has disappeared—it is safely skipped.
The accelerating timeline
By default, echoes begin 30 seconds behind you. Every Minecraft day, the delay decreases until the timeline reaches Convergence.
The challenge progresses through four phases:
- Stable: One shadow retraces your past.
- Unstable: Temporal effects begin and shadows can cause paradoxes.
- Fractured: Additional echo layers start forming.
- Convergence: Multiple shadows repeat different moments from your past simultaneously.
Ultimate Fracture
Ultimate Fracture gradually increases the number of active shadows toward a configurable target.
With the default settings:
1 → 3 → 5 → 7 → 9 → 10 shadows
On the final day, the timeline reaches ULTIMATE FRACTURE, unleashing ten independently delayed shadows.
Paradox collisions
Touching an active shadow can fracture the timeline:
- You are returned to the shadow’s recorded position.
- The shadow temporarily fractures and reforms.
- Nausea and slowing make the collision immediately noticeable.
- Optional paradox damage can be enabled.
- A cooldown prevents repeated collision loops.
Fully configurable
Nearly every mechanic can be changed using /actionecho commands:
- Enable or disable individual repeated actions
- Change the starting and minimum delay
- Adjust how much the delay decreases per day
- Configure one to ten shadows
- Change the spacing between shadows
- Enable or disable paradoxes
- Select full, outline, particle or hidden shadows
- Choose smooth or performance-friendly movement recording
- Configure Ultimate Fracture and Convergence
- Clear duplicated or abandoned shadows
- View persistent challenge statistics
Commands require operator or cheat access and save immediately.
Performance
Action Echo was designed to remain bounded even with multiple shadows:
- Efficient five-sample-per-second mode available
- Equipment recorded only when it changes
- Shared limits for movement and scheduled actions
- No recursive echo creation
- No forced chunk loading
- Automatic movement-history limits
- Maximum of ten echo layers
Installation
- Install Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or newer for Minecraft 26.2.
- Install the matching version of Fabric API.
- Place Action Echo in your
modsfolder. - Remove any older Action Echo JARs.
- Back up your world before beginning a challenge.
The same JAR works in single-player and on dedicated servers. On a dedicated server, only the server needs Action Echo installed.
Important limitations
- Inventory menus, crafting, chat and commands are not repeated.
- Boats, horses and other mounts are not recreated.
- Shadows follow the recorded player path while mounted.
- Exact translucent opacity would require a client-side renderer.
- Movement is visual except for enabled paradox collisions and supported repeated actions.
