Release notes

Changelog

Keep up-to-date on what's new with ModDex.

Community Tags Rework

  • Proposed tags and active tags are now one scored list, and votes are kept when a tag is removed or becomes active.
  • Proposing, upvoting, and downvoting tags now all grant reputation, but only once that tag becomes active (if upvoted) or removed (if downvoted).
    • Proposing: +2
    • Upvoting/downvoting: +1
  • You now get notified when a tag you voted on (not just proposed) becomes active or is removed, with an optional email in your notification settings.
  • Improved the voting modal, with active and proposed tags side by side and each proposal showing how close it is to becoming active.
  • Project pages now ask whether a tag fits, so you can upvote or downvote one without opening the modal.
  • Tag descriptions now open when you click a tag on project pages, cards, lists and in the modal.

Changed

  • Improved the project Files tab for readability and accessibility.
  • Improved page loading speed across project pages.

Milestones

  • 3,000 community tag votes reached!
  • 1,000 library entries reached!

Changed

  • Catalog search now waits until you have typed three characters before searching.
  • Updated the review image guideline. Attached images have to show the project itself. For dev tools and libraries with nothing to see in-game, screenshots of the code, config, or output you worked with are fine.
  • Improved page performance for Pack Comparison, Pack Finder, similar projects, projects catalog, and the home page.
  • Fixed a bug that made some catalog and Pack Finder links fail to load.
  • Updated our privacy policy, transactional emails now send through Amazon SES.

What's New

  • Mods published to separate CurseForge/Modrinth pages for each mod loader are now merged into a single page, so reviews, ratings and downloads are no longer split across multiple listings. ~1,500 duplicate listings have combined into ~750 pages so far, and merged pages have the loader removed from their name.
  • On a merged page you can switch between each listing's own description, gallery and dependencies, with mod loader icons marking which is which, and a platform's files all stay in one tab.
  • Added a review standards section to the landing page covering the reviewer and creator guidelines.
  • You can now opt in to news emails from the news and changelog pages or when you register.

Changed

  • Improved the Pack Finder results cards, including better UI, clearer fit percentages and applied exclusions shown on the top.
  • Improved Pack Finder rankings when tag "Features" and preferred mods are included.
  • Improved page performance for the catalog and Pack Finder results when logged in.

API

  • Improved the project endpoints: genres, features and themes now properly return their names.

What's New

  • Review screenshots are now available at every rank. Your rank sets how many you can attach:
    • Explorer: 2
    • Contributor: 3
    • Guide: 4
    • Veteran: 5
    • Luminary: 6
  • Added a new play status for reviews and pack libraries: "Played".
  • Modrinth organizations are now credited in the author list and are now filterable.
  • Improved filtering UX across projects, reviews, and the dependencies tab.
  • Added a disclosure to project pages about ModDex listings, with links to the author's own issue tracker as well as FAQ links.
  • Improved Modrinth datapack discovery, adding ~7k previously unreachable datapacks to ModDex.

Changed

  • Updated the FAQ to add information about ModDex project listings and how to become a verified developer.
  • Clicking the call-to-action button on a notification now marks it as read.

What's New

  • On project pages, authors are now displayed under the project title instead of tucked away in the Details tab. Authors with the same username on both CurseForge and Modrinth are combined.
  • Reviews in grid view are now ordered from left to right.
  • Developer transparency was moved from creator guidelines to reviewer guidelines. It is now a requirement to connect your Modrinth account when reviewing a Modrinth project that lists you as a team member.
  • The profile's votes cast tab now shows all votes by default.

Changed

  • Improved sorting for Average Rating by making rating count be used as a tie-breaker.
  • Fixed a bug that left a few projects without version data and descriptions.
  • Accessibility and readability improvements across the site.
  • Updated our privacy policy: it now describes more precisely where exactly your data is stored.

What's New

  • Dev environment filters now tell you where a mod runs:
    • Client Only
    • Server Only
    • Both
    • Either Side
    • Client Required, Server Optional
    • Server Required, Client Optional

The old labels are recently deprecated by Modrinth and couldn't tell a server-side mod apart from one that needs both, so a lot of projects were mislabeled. Dev environments only cover projects listed on Modrinth. CurseForge's equivalent is too vague and often mismatched with what the same project shows on Modrinth.

  • The catalog now shows how many results your hidden tag settings are filtering out, with a toggle to show them anyway.

Changed

  • Project links are permanent. Authors sometimes change their project slug, so every URL or embedded rating badge now follows the project to its new address.
  • Around 40k Modrinth projects received cleaner URLs in the process, using the project name on its own instead of containing an ID.

  • 1,500 members reached!
  • 3,500 total ratings reached!
