About
Description

Adaptation: Compass adds a progression-based tool that grows stronger as you take damage. The Adaptation Compass (ironic name, I know) tracks each hit you receive, building rotation. When the rotation reaches 6/6, the damage type that completed the rotation becomes a permanent immunity for the player.
All common damage sources are supported, including projectiles, explosions, fire, magic, environmental damage, and modded damage types. Out of World damage is excluded. When a damage type has been adapted, any future damage of that type is fully negated and instead heals the player for the amount it would have dealt.
How It Works
- Each hit adds 1/6 rotation to the compass.
- At 6/6 rotation, the current damage source becomes an immunity.
- Immunities are permanent (as long as they aren't overwritten) and can't stack.
- Adapted damage types no longer harm the player and instead restore health.
- Supports modded damage sources automatically.
Crafting
The compass is created through a smithing upgrade using the Elder's Worn Book, an item obtained from the Cleric villager.
Smithing requirements:
- Template: Elder's Worn Book
- Base item: Compass
- Addition: Netherite Scrap
This creates the Adaptation Compass, which improves as the player encounters new threats.
