Aeon Delve

What if the past left echoes… and you could walk into them?

Aeon Delve adds instanced dungeons to Minecraft: find a ruined portal out in the world, gather a party of up to 4 players, and step into a self-contained echo of a lost age — ancient Greece, the Egyptian necropolis, the Roman Colosseum, an Aztec temple swallowed by the jungle, a valley where dinosaurs still roam, and the frozen halls of the Norse dead.

Each run generates a fresh dungeon in its own temporary dimension. When you leave, it's gone. Your world stays clean, your base stays safe, and every run is different.

This 1.0.0 is the first release, and the groundwork for where it's heading: a full roguelike built on these delves, where runs carry progress forward.

Made for ModJam 2026 — Echoes of the Past. The theme isn't just the name: the whole mod is built around it. 🏺

🌀 How it works

  1. Find a portal. Themed ruins generate across the Overworld — a Greek shrine in the plains, an Egyptian ruin in the desert, a Roman arch in the mountains (and in caves!), an Aztec altar in the jungle, a fossil site in the ice. Or craft your own portal with 8 stone bricks and an ender pearl.
  2. Gather your party. Right-click the portal to open the lobby: invite nearby friends (1–4 players), pick a dungeon, check the recommended gear, ready up.
  3. Raid the echo. Fight through procedurally assembled rooms full of custom mobs, find buff altars, open chests, and face the guardian at the end.
  4. Beat the boss, claim the loot. The exit portal appears, you walk out richer — and the echo fades away behind you.

🏛️ Twelve dungeons, six ages

Every portal level is a different age of the past, and each age has two dungeons with their own identity:

Age Dungeons
🏺 Ancient Greece Ruins of Olympus · Cliff of the Harpies
𓂀 Ancient Egypt Necropolis of Duat · Oasis of Thoth
🏟️ Rome The Eternal Colosseum · Eternal Rome
🐆 Aztec Empire Teocalli of Quetzalcoatl · The Jaguar's Jungle
🦖 Age of Dinosaurs The Lost Valley · The Raptors' Caldera
❄️ Norse Myth The Hall of the Fallen · The Gates of Helheim

Feed Echoes of the Past to your portal to unlock deeper ages. The deeper you go, the harder it hits — and the better the loot.

✨ Features

  • 🐉 25 custom mobs with their own models and textures: hoplites, harpies, a minotaur, mummies and a phoenix, legionaries and the Capitoline Wolf, jaguar and eagle warriors, Quetzalcoatl, velociraptors, a T-Rex… each age fights differently. The Norse halls are the exception: there it's the armoured dead who stand guard, kitted out in netherite.
  • 💀 12 boss fights — every dungeon ends in a sealed room and a boss bar, from the Minotaur to Hel herself, plus five mini-bosses waiting in the second dungeons: the Harpy Matriarch, Thoth, the Undefeated Retiarius, the Alpha Jaguar and the Alpha Raptor.
  • 🎯 Telegraphed boss abilities: seismic stomps, rock rain, desert sands, war howls — every ability shows its danger zone with particles first. If it hits you, you could have dodged it. Git gud, respectfully. 😄
  • 🗺️ Minimap with fog of war so your party never argues about which corridor you haven't explored yet. (You'll argue anyway.)
  • 👻 Die and stick around: fall with teammates still standing and you don't get kicked out — you leave a grave with your inventory and XP and haunt the dungeon as a glowing, untouchable ghost. A living teammate revives you on the spot with an Echo of the Past, or just kill the boss and everyone comes back for free.
  • ⚱️ Wipe the whole party and there's still a way back: every grave turns into an Echo of the Fallen holding your stuff near the portal — buy it back with Echoes of the Past, up to 75%.
  • 🛡️ Four shields, four civilizations, four reasons to block: the Hoplite Shield lights your way, the Nakhti Shield curses whoever you parry, the Roman Shield turns your squad into a Testudo wall, the Aztec Shield bites back with obsidian thorns. Mobs carry theirs visibly and drop them — craft all four into the Ancile, the shield with every ability at once.
  • 🪶 Four off-hand feathers — Fire Resistance, Water Breathing, Jump Boost, no fall damage — dropped by the phoenix, the harpies, Quetzalcoatl and the T-Rex. Collect all four for the Rainbow Feather and never swap relics again.
  • Buff altars, wave-based rooms, traps, and terrain that fights back: tar pits that slow everyone down in the Caldera, ice you'll skate across in Helheim.
  • 📊 Gear check in the lobby: each dungeon shows its recommended equipment tier, and warns (never blocks) anyone who's under-geared.
  • 🧩 Fully data-driven: rooms, dungeons, mob pools and loot are JSON. You can build your own dungeons with a datapack — an example pack is included.
  • 🌎 English & Spanish, fully translated.
  • 🖥️ Works in singleplayer and multiplayer.

💬 This is a jam mod — talk to us!

This is 1.0.0 — the first release, not the last. It's the version submitted to the jam, and the polishing continues from here.

Aeon Delve was built in one month for ModJam 2026, and the comments are open on purpose. Found a bug? A boss that feels unfair (or too easy)? An age you'd love to see next? A room that softlocked you? Tell us below — feedback during the jam shapes what this mod becomes. We read everything. 🧡
