About
Description
This mod is specifically a client-side custom Minecraft title-screen mod for A Hero Unmade. It does not affect gameplay, mobs, quests, world generation, servers, or saves.
It does:
- Replaces the normal Minecraft panorama background with a static image:
a_hero_unmade:textures/gui/title/background.png - Replaces the normal Minecraft logo with your custom logo:
a_hero_unmade:textures/gui/title/logo.png - Removes the yellow splash text that normally appears near the Minecraft logo, like “Woo, minecraft!” or other rotating phrases.
The images are not stored inside this JAR. The mod deliberately looks for them through Minecraft's resource system, meaning you can keep them and add your own here:
kubejs/
└── assets/
└── a_hero_unmade/
└── textures/
└── gui/
└── title/
├── background.png
└── logo.png
That means you can replace either PNG without rebuilding the mod.
How the background behaves
The background image is expected to have roughly a 16:9 aspect ratio. The code calculates the screen dimensions and scales the image using a cover-style fit.
So it:
- fills the entire screen
- maintains the image's aspect ratio
- crops off excess portions when the monitor's aspect ratio does not match
- centers the image
It then completely prevents Minecraft's normal rotating panorama from rendering.
How the logo behaves
The custom logo:
- stays horizontally centered
- starts at about 8 pixels from the top
- maintains its original aspect ratio
- has an assumed source ratio of 1024 × 598
- is capped at 256 GUI pixels wide
- also scales down if the window is narrow
- respects Minecraft's normal logo fade-in alpha when the title screen appears
Once the custom logo successfully renders, Minecraft's normal logo renderer is cancelled.
What it deliberately does NOT change
It leaves all title-screen buttons alone.
So things such as:
- Singleplayer
- Multiplayer
- Options
- Quit Game
- Essential buttons
- Essential multiplayer/social UI
- other mods adding title-screen widgets
are still handled by Minecraft/Essential/the relevant mods.
The mod is essentially sitting underneath/behind those systems and swapping only the artwork.
If you have Tensura Installed it overlays the build in menu screen to that mod.
Fallback behavior
It is also fairly safe about missing assets.
If background.png does not exist, it returns control to Minecraft and the normal panorama can render.
If logo.png does not exist, Minecraft's normal logo remains available.
So deleting one of the images shouldn't inherently make the menu unusable.
TLDR
AUH Menu is basically:
Custom static A Hero Unmade menu background + custom centered logo + no Minecraft splash text, while preserving the vanilla/Essential menu buttons.
Why was this mod made? The modpack it is for uses essential and Tensura and they had too many overlapping buttons and I could not get other custom menu screens to work properly with the two.
