About

Description

Aieau's traps is a mod about making and placing traps that (try to) stay vanilla-ish,balanced and synergise well with other minecraft blocks and existing traps.

(see recommended mods and tips at the bottom)

Feel free to comment for any feedback/suggestions!

Adds some trap blocks:

  • The bear trap is a single-block trap that immobilizes and damages (5 dmg) entities stepping on it (9 sec for entities, 5 for players), stopping movement and jumping for a short time.
It also outputs a redstone signal when activated. When it triggers, it can be reused by breaking ,replacing and re-deploying it by right-clicking. It can also be avoided by sneaking. due to it's high visibility and easy counter, this trap isn't great against players and better used against strong mob entities.
2 variants: the amethyst bear trap (3 dmg, increased stun, alerts the owner when triggered) and automatic bear trap (7 dmg, weaker slowdown, redeploys itself automatically but slower than the regular trap)
  • the glass shards is a single-block trap that is cheap, hard to spot, and easy to deploy. it's relatively weak, only dealing 2 damage and slight slowness on target, and it is one-use. It can also be used in a sabotaging table to poison food items, making the consumer take damage to ruin your foes food stock due to it's low cost.
  • the primer is an explosive block. it explodes in a much weaker manner than tnt, with only 2  explosive power instead of 5. However, unlike TNT, it explodes instantly, allowing instant detonation of TNT chain explosions. however, the primer is stable and ONLY detonates on redstone input: flint and steel or explosives do not activate it.
  • the electrap is a one-use "trap payload" block that requires redstone to activate. when activated, it will strike down any mobs within a 10 blocks square radius with lightning. it is a great alternative to TNT that avoids friendly fire as it does not damage the surrounding terrain (unless near a forest or wooden base as the lightning still generates fires) and is easily countered by wearing a leather helmet or not being exposed to the sky.
  • the eye of sculk and sculk transmitter aren't traps on their own, they're redstone triggers. the sculk transmitter can be bound to a sculk eye, and when activated, the sculk eye will transmit redstone. useful for manually triggering traps.
  • void water is a fluid that looks exactly like water, but drags down and drowns the player that swims in it. also reduces and deals damage on armor.
  • soul core is a block that summons a "sentinel" and breaks itself when redstone activated. The sentinel has less health than a zombie, but more damage and slightly more speed. it attacksd ANY nearby players and has beef with zombies for some reason... dissapears a while after being spawned.
  • amethyst alarm is a block that is redstone activated. Upon being triggered, it emits a chat message to the player that placed it, depending on the block's name.

But there's more! other items for trolling:

  • the anonymous mask when worn, it will make the user "invisible" (between quotes as the mask is still visible, thus only serving the purpose of hiding the player's skin and username) aswell as hiding death messages from and to the anonymous player. Perfect to mess with your friends in plain sight without them having any idea who did it!
  • the sabotaging table is a block that is used to poison food items. currently you can put TNT, blaze rod, blast compound, pufferfish or glass shards for various effects. It is also the workbench for trapper villagers, which will exchange various trap blocks and components for emeralds.
  • the warden heart technically speaking is a trap block, but it was put in this category as it is completely harmless and rather just used to mess with people. When activated, puts the darkness effect on surrounding entities and plays a few warden sounds... make them think you brought one to the surface!
  • the airhorn and all it's variants allows you to play sounds to mess with your friends. currently there are 4 variants:
-the classic airhorn, plays an explosion sound
-the creephorn, plays the sound of a creeper hissing.
-the ghasthorn, plays the sound of a ghast screaming and shooting, perfect if your friend is bridging in the nether.
-the netherite horn, purely used to flex on your friends. plays the "achievement" toast fanfare and sends a chat message to everyone in the server to remind these low-life peasants that you are better than them.
  • the sand spray blinds, weakens and slows it's target. it's a perfect escape tool if you get caught in the act of setting up a trap... or if you just want to annoy your friends by blinding them
  • the paralysing dart (and blowgun) is a ranged item that paralyses any entities hit. it only really paralyses their movement and has a long cooldown, it is still pretty annoying.
  • the inkball, blinds mobs in the radius for a short while.
  • the nahtherite and daiamound items that look like netherite and diamonds respectively. glows occasionally to tell them apart, but keep their textures even with texture packs.
  • the player effigy used to spoof player leave/join messages

And "anti trolling" items, just in case...

  • the glowball is an item that will make any entities in an area glow... and sands their eyes if they are using an anonymous mask. great if you know that your friend is sneaking around you maliciously!
  • the lapis cookie is an item that has the exact same role as a milk bucket, removing status effects. what's so special about it? well, it's quickly consumed, like dried kelps. it is quite a bit more expensive than milk, though.
  • lapis gum after consuming, for a minute, the user will be immune to all potion effects, positive or negative. this immunity is a potion effect itself, meaning it can be removed with milk or lapis cookie.
sidenote: Some items may break interactions with other mods and make them "cheesable" (example: lapis gum being used to completely ignore an effect that is integral to a mod, or bear trap used to stunlock and cheese a strong boss) in that case, it is recommended to use kubejs to remove specific recipes from your modpack or server.

not all the item recipes are obvious, and none of them are indicated within the mod or description, and we do not have a wiki for this mod. so it is HIGHLY recommended to use the just enough items mod to see recipes.
