AirStaff
A wandless casting expansion for Goety — break free from holding a wand to unleash your magic.
Overview
AirStaff is a Goety addon that liberates you from the constraint of having to hold a wand to cast spells. You can cast spells bare-handed with exactly the same mechanics as Goety's native casting system — including focus management. Once you craft a Free Staff, you can cast spells from wands of different schools, quickly switch between them, and manage everything — all without ever needing to hold a wand in your hand.
Features
Virtual Wand System
When you're not holding a physical wand, the mod creates a virtual wand (based on the wand stored in your charm, if you have one). Every Goety system — focus switching, soul energy, cooldowns, spell charging — works seamlessly through this virtual wand, exactly as if you were holding it in your hand.
Free Cast (Default: V Key)
Press the V key to instantly begin casting, no wand in hand required. The mod automatically resolves your current wand and focus, letting you cast spells freely at any moment.
Wearable Wand
The Free Staff is a Curios item that can store a wand inside it. Equip it in the Curios Charm slot (or keep it in your inventory) and it acts as your magical conduit.
Wand Radial Menu & List (Default: Tab Key)
Press the Tab key to open the radial wand-switching interface (and a wand list). From this interface you can:
- View your currently active wand
- Switch between any Goety wands in your inventory
- Optionally access wands stored in Sophisticated Backpacks
- Retrieve the wand stored in your charm back into your inventory
Goety Key Integration
The mod hooks into Goety's built-in focus selection and switching keys (default: Z and X), allowing you to open the focus selection GUI for your virtual wand — all without holding a physical wand.
Seamless Backpack Support
If Sophisticated Backpacks is installed, you can directly access wands stored inside your backpacks from the Free Staff Circle menu, making wand management even smoother and more convenient.
Fully Configurable HUD
A configurable HUD overlay displays your current virtual wand and its status. Position can be adjusted freely in the client-side configuration.
How to Use
1. Use the Z / X keys to manage your focus as usual, placing focus into your virtual wand.
2. Press V to freely cast spells from your virtual wand at any time.
3. Craft a Free Staff — check JEI/REI for the recipe.
4. Insert a Goety wand — use the wand-switching menu or right-click with the Free Staff to change your virtual wand type.
5. Equip the charm in your Curios Charm slot (or keep it in your inventory) for it to take effect.
6. Press Tab to open the radial menu and switch between wands in your inventory.
7. Enjoy casting freely!
