Alex's Crop Genetics

Crop Genetics is a lightweight farming expansion that introduces a dynamic genetics and mutation system for all crops, rewarding careful breeding with higher yields, faster growth, and better food!

🌱 Features

  • Genetic Traits: Every crop seed now has three unique stats:
    • Growth: Speeds up how fast the crop matures.
    • Yield: Multiplies the number of crops dropped when harvested.
    • Saturation: Increases the food value when eaten.
  • Dynamic Breeding: Mature crops will naturally spread to adjacent empty farmland. The new offspring inherits the median stats of its surrounding parents, with a 20% chance to mutate (either improving or worsening).
  • Tier System: Crop stats start at -50% (Tier 0) and can be bred all the way up to +200% (Tier 10). Be warned: breeding past +100% becomes exponentially harder!
  • Wild Seeds: Breaking crops in the wild no longer guarantees boring baseline seeds. You have a rare chance to find naturally mutated seeds (up to +50% stats) to kickstart your breeding program.
  • Drought Resistance: High-tier mutations have a small chance to roll the coveted Drought Resistant trait, allowing crops to grow at maximum speed without requiring water nearby.

🎒 The Seed Bag

Managing hundreds of mutated seeds can clutter your inventory. The Seed Bag is a new tool specifically designed for farmers:

  • Functions similarly to a Vanilla Bundle.
  • Holds up to 256 items, but restricts storage to one exact type and genetic tier at a time.
  • Perfect for storing your "perfect" genetic strains.

🛠️ Compatibility

  • Vanilla Friendly: Seamlessly integrates into vanilla crop mechanics and item tooltips.
  • Jade Integration: Highly recommended! If you have Jade installed, you can see the exact genetic makeup of a crop simply by hovering your crosshair over it in the world.
