Description

Fabric Forge NeoForge Discord

Scattered across the world are the monuments of a civilization nobody remembers – ancient ruins whose cores still hum with a power no one has ever figured out.

Ancient Monuments

You won't stumble across these often, and that's kind of the point. Ancient monuments are what's left of a civilization that vanished long before anyone can remember why. Nobody really knows what they were for, but you'll feel one before you see it: a faint ambient hum that grows heavier the deeper you push into the ruins.

Dormant Cores

Every monument hides an Elderheart at its center, and it's not just sitting there for the taking – the creatures that have made these ruins their home will see to that. Get past them, though, and the core is yours to draw on for some genuinely useful benefits.

Biome-Bound Designs

Each monument comes in one of several designs, and every design is tied to a specific biome. Find one in the desert and it'll look nothing like the one buried under snow. It's not about randomness, the architecture reflects the kind of power sleeping inside, so the biome hints at what you're walking into before you ever reach the core.

Echoes of the Past

This mod isn't going to hand you a wiki page the moment you set foot in a ruin. Instead, a wandering trader has left research scattered across the world – fragments you'll need to track down yourself. Piece enough of them together and you'll start filling in the Monolith Codex, slowly learning what these powers actually do.

Fully Configurable

If you'd rather not dig through config files, you don't have to. An in-game settings screen handles monument generation and the rest of the gameplay tweaks. Want them rare and worth the hunt, or common enough to shape your whole world around? Either way, it's a couple of clicks.

Made for CurseForge's Echoes of the Past ModJam

Ancient Remnants was built as an entry for CurseForge's Minecraft ModJam 2026: Echoes of the Past, a contest centered on bringing history and lost civilizations into Minecraft. A mod about ruins nobody remembers building fit the theme almost too well.

World Generation

The goal here was always to make these feel like something you stumble onto, not something the game points you toward. Generation settings can go either way – tuck the ruins away as rare, hard-won finds, or let them turn up often enough that exploring feels rewarding from the start.

Compatibility

Compatibility mattered from day one. Ancient Remnants is built to sit alongside other world-gen and content mods, so adding it to an existing modpack shouldn't mess with how your world already generates.
