Annoying Advancements
Think you've seen every Minecraft advancement? Annoying Advancements adds a collection of unusual, inconvenient, and sometimes completely pointless advancements designed to give you new things to discover while playing Minecraft.
The mod introduces advancements based on common Minecraft situations, strange accomplishments, questionable decisions, and things that you probably weren't trying to achieve in the first place.
Features
Annoying Advancements currently adds several custom advancements, each with its own trigger and requirement.
🌱 Touch Grass
Requirement: Hold a grass block in your inventory.
A simple reminder that Minecraft isn't real life. Find some grass, put it in your inventory, and finally accomplish something productive.
🫵 You Dirty Cheater
Requirement: Have an illegal item in your inventory.
Obtain an item that normally shouldn't be obtainable through legitimate gameplay and you'll receive this advancement. Perfect for creative mode testing, commands, glitches, or questionable experimentation.
💥 Aww Man
Requirement: Get blown up by a Creeper.
Everyone knows the situation: you're peacefully doing something important, a Creeper walks up behind you, and suddenly your house has a new entrance.
This advancement rewards one of Minecraft's most recognizable unfortunate events.
💀 That Hurt
Requirement: Respawn after dying.
Death isn't the end. It's an advancement.
Whether you fell into a cave, got killed by a mob, accidentally blew yourself up, or simply made a terrible decision, coming back after death earns you this achievement.
🏠 Home Sweet Home
Requirement: Return to the Overworld after visiting the Nether.
Survive the Nether and make it back home safely. After dealing with lava, hostile mobs, and questionable portal placement, returning to the Overworld finally gives you something to celebrate.
🗺️ Are We There Yet?
Requirement: Travel more than 100,000 blocks from the world origin.
For players who apparently don't believe in staying near spawn.
Travel an enormous distance across the Minecraft world to unlock this advancement. Whether you're exploring, looking for something that probably doesn't exist, or simply refusing to use a Nether portal for transportation, this one is going to take a while.
What Does This Mod Change?
Annoying Advancements adds extra progression goals to Minecraft without replacing or altering the vanilla advancement system.
The advancements are designed to naturally appear during normal gameplay. Some are easy to obtain, while others require exploration, death, unusual items, or deliberately inconvenient decisions.
The result is a more unpredictable advancement experience where ordinary Minecraft moments can suddenly become achievements.
For example:
- Accidentally getting killed by a Creeper can become an achievement.
- Returning from the Nether can trigger a reward for simply making it home.
- Travelling extremely far from spawn gives long-distance explorers another goal to work toward.
- Obtaining normally unobtainable items can reveal a hidden challenge.
- Even dying and respawning can count as an accomplishment.
Designed to Be Annoying
The goal of this mod isn't to add powerful rewards or radically change Minecraft's gameplay. Instead, Annoying Advancements adds small challenges that make you think:
"Why is that an advancement?"
Some advancements are intentionally silly, some are inconvenient, and some reward things that normally wouldn't feel like accomplishments at all.
The mod is especially suited for players who enjoy:
- Collecting every advancement
- Completionist challenges
- Exploring Minecraft's world
- Playing modded survival
- Finding unusual achievements
- Joke and meme-based content
- Adding extra goals to long-term worlds
Future Advancements
More annoying advancements may be added over time, including additional challenges based on exploration, mobs, items, dimensions, statistics, and unusual things that can happen during Minecraft gameplay.
The objective is simple:
Give players more things to accomplish, even when they probably shouldn't be accomplishments.
