About
Description
The Arcane Infuser is a block that lets you apply **any enchantment in your modpack** — vanilla or added by another mod — to any compatible item or to a book, in exchange for experience.
Unlike the vanilla enchanting table, it has no level requirement, no luck-of-the-sea gambling, and no hardcoded whitelist. It reads the global enchantment registry at runtime, so it picks up modded enchantments automatically and stays compatible with mods that define their own categories.
## Features
- **Every registered enchantment, from every mod.** The list is built by scanning the live enchantment registry, not a baked-in list, so modded enchantments show up on their own.
- **Full compatibility rules respected.** Applicability is delegated to each enchantment's own `canEnchant` check, so mods with custom item categories work correctly.
- **Works on items and books.** Place a book and it is turned into an enchanted book. Enchantments already on an item or book are shown and locked, so they can be raised but never silently removed.
- **Per-enchantment level control.** Toggle each enchantment with a checkbox and pick its level with a slider, which stays within the limits the source mod defines.
- **Searchable, scrollable list.** A search box filters by name and mod ID, and the list scrolls to show every match.
- **Describes every enchantment.** Hovering an entry shows what it does, its rarity, its maximum level, what it can be applied to, and whether it is treasure-only, book-applicable or tradeable. Descriptions come from the source mod when available, otherwise from built-in text.
- **Configurable cost, level cap and blacklist.** See the Configuration section.
- **Curse enchantments can be disabled outright.** Off by default, and when disabled they are hidden from the list instead of merely rejected.
- **Server-authoritative.** The client only sends the requested enchantments; the server re-resolves the IDs and re-validates levels, compatibility and cost before anything is applied or charged.
- **Multiplayer safe.** The stored item persists across restarts and is returned if the block is broken. Its inventory is exposed as an item handler capability, so hoppers and pipes from other mods can interact with it.
Treasure-only enchantments cost 50% more, and the level factor is triangular (1, 3, 6, 10, 15...), so higher levels get disproportionately expensive. You only pay the **difference** against the levels the item already has, so re-applying a lower level is never charged. On top of that, each additional new enchantment adds a combo surcharge that grows with how many enchantments the item already carries.
Costs are paid in **experience levels** by default, or in raw **experience points** if you prefer. Creative mode is always free.
## Configuration
Server-side config, generated per world at `world/serverconfig/arcaneinfuser-server.toml`.
| Option | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `cost.mode` | `LEVELS` | Charge XP levels (`LEVELS`) or raw XP points (`POINTS`). |
| `cost.multiplier` | `1.0` | Global cost multiplier. |
| `cost.pointsPerUnit` | `10` | XP points per cost unit, `POINTS` mode only. |
| `cost.comboSurcharge` | `1` | Extra cost per additional enchantment. |
| `rules.allowTreasure` | `true` | Allow treasure-only enchantments such as Mending. |
| `rules.allowCurses` | `false` | Allow curse enchantments. When false they are hidden from the list. |
| `rules.extraLevelsOverMax` | `0` | Levels allowed above each enchantment's own maximum. `0` respects the source mod. |
| `rules.blacklist` | `[]` | Blocked enchantment IDs. Supports a mod wildcard such as `somemod:*`. |
