Description

Armed Mobs Warfare: Across the Ages

From swords and spells to rifles, every era goes to war.

Turn your world into a battlefield. Factions at war, armed village guards with a real combat AI, caravans to escort or rob, sieges on your base, reputation, and mercenaries who fight and work for you.

Works on its own with swords, bows and crossbows. Even better with TaCZ guns, Iron's Spells, medieval weapon mods and Epic Fight.

Successor of TaCZ Armed Mobs. Your settings and worlds are taken over automatically.

🚀 Quick start

  1. Install the mod (client and server). Add any of the optional mods you like.
  2. Start a world. A welcome screen shows which optional mods were found.
  3. You get the guide book Armed Mobs Field Manual on first join (with Patchouli).
  4. Mark your home with /base set, so natural events never start there.
  5. Visit a village: the Armed Guards are already on duty. Soon the first battle, caravan or hunt starts near you.

⚔️ Faction Wars

The mobs of Minecraft are no longer just "hostile" or "friendly": they belong to 15 factions in 5 families.

Family Main faction Sub-factions
Villagers Villagers Brass Guild, Iron Watch
Illagers Illagers Woodland Covenant, Raven Clan
Undead Undead Grave Legion, Plague Choir
Piglins Piglins Gilded Syndicate, Bastion Legion
Wither Wither Ashen Order, Black Forge
  • Factions fight each other in the open world too: zombies attack pillagers, piglins attack wither skeletons …
  • Look at a mob to see its faction, e.g. Zombie | Grave Legion.
  • Every faction, member, relation, arch enemy and currency can be changed in factions.json.

🔥 Events around you

Every minute the server rolls the dice for each player:

  • Battles: two enemy factions clash near you. Stay out, or pick a side.
  • Hunts: a hostile hunting party tracks you down.
  • Ambushes: a group appears out of sight and attacks at once.
  • Caravans: a trader with guards and pack animals travels past. Escort it, raid it, or trade with it.
  • Sieges (optional): a faction besieges your base in waves (scouts, main force, a leader with escort). Engineers dig tunnels, build ladders or blow their way in.
  • Auto repair: after the fight, craters, tunnels, ladders and fire are put back. Blocks you placed stay.

Events scale with your Gear Score (armor, enchantments, weapons, health, spells). Beginners get small fights, veterans face armies. Players close together count as a group. Your base (/base set, FTB Chunks claims) is always safe from natural events.

🛡️ The Armed Guard

The mod's own village guard, with the player model and custom skins.

  • Every village with villagers gets guards (one per 2 villagers, 2–8). Fallen guards are replaced over time.
  • They patrol between workstations, fight monsters and the villagers' enemies, eat from their pouch and walk back to the bell to resupply.
  • They warn you if you walk around with a drawn gun. Lower it, or they open fire.
  • Right-click for his armor, weapons, pouch and name. With Friendly reputation you can recruit him as your mercenary.

🤝 Reputation

Every faction has an opinion of you, from Hated to Allied.

  • Kill a faction's soldiers and they like you less, and their enemies like you more. Arch enemies count double.
  • Friendly: caravan discounts, mercenary contracts. Allied: bigger discounts, help during sieges. Hostile: they hunt you more often.
  • White flag: hold a white banner to surrender. It always costs you something.
  • Wanted poster: call a fixer who buys back your reputation with factions that hate you, for a price.
  • Player factions: found a team with your friends with shared reputation and bases and no friendly fire. FTB Teams is used if installed.

💰 Mercenaries

Hire soldiers with mercenary contracts from caravans, sieges, or by recruiting an Armed Guard. Lead up to 15.

  • Orders: follow (even through portals), wait, guard an area.
  • Work: farming (harvest and replant), animals (keeps a breeding stock, slaughters the surplus), crafting at crafting tables or TaCZ gunsmith tables, with up to 9 recipes and stock targets.
  • Linked barrels for input and output, a work schedule (day, night, always), and they sleep in beds off duty.
  • Their own window: gear, pouch, health, ammo, name, orders.

🔌 Optional mods

Everything below is optional. Without them, mobs fight with vanilla swords, bows and crossbows.

🔫 TaCZ (Timeless and Classics Zero)

1.20.1: the original TaCZ. 1.21.1: the NeoForge port of TaCZ (LINK).

  • Guards, mercenaries and monsters spawn with guns from every installed gunpack, plus matching ammo.
  • A tactical gun AI: mobs aim, reload real magazines, cycle bolt-action rifles and keep a distance that fits their gun (snipers stay back, shotguns come close). They avoid shooting through friends and switch to melee when out of ammo.
  • Suppression: bullets flying past slow you down.
  • Gun ratings for the Gear Score, guns in caravan trades, gunsmith tables for mercenaries.
  • Settings in guns.toml, which only exists with a gun mod.

✨ Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks

  • Battle mages with staff and spellbook, and three mage factions.
  • Give a mercenary your spellbook and it casts your spells, with its own mana bar.
  • Mages heal and shield allies, then attack, never through their friends.

🏰 Medieval mods

Epic Knights, Fantasy Armor, Armor of the Ages, Simply Swords, Spartan Weaponry, Basic Weapons, Immersive Armors and others.

  • Weapons and armor of all installed mods are detected and ranked automatically. You don't need a list.
  • War mobs, Armed Guards and extra mobs get medieval gear that fits the player's Gear Score.
  • Settings in medieval.toml.

🥋 Epic Fight

  • Armed Guards fight with Epic Fight animations, plus custom gun poses for players and guards.
  • Mobs use weapon skill attacks: Sweeping Edge, Dancing Edge, Guillotine, Steel Whirlwind, Sharp Stab, Rushing Tempo, Battojutsu, Heartpiercer, Eviscerate, Relentless Combo.
  • Meteor Slam with longsword, spear, tachi or greatsword: the mob leaps up (Demolition Leap or a Phantom Ascent double jump) and slams down onto you, cracking the ground. The cracks are only an effect, blocks stay intact.
  • Passive skills: some mobs have Adaptive Skin (tougher against repeated hits of the same kind) or Swordmaster (faster sword attacks).
  • Everything can be adjusted or turned off in [animations].

🏘️ Guard Villagers

Its guards join the factions, get pouches, resupply, and with TaCZ guns. You choose whether Armed Guards, Guard Villagers or both populate villages.

Also supported

Patchouli (in-game guide book Armed Mobs Field Manual), FTB Teams (player factions), FTB Chunks (claims count as bases).

⚙️ Configuration

Everything lives in config/armedmobswarfare/:

File What it contains
common.toml everything that works without other mods (also in the in-game config screen on NeoForge)
guns.toml gun AI, weapons, ammo, armed mobs (only with a gun mod)
magic.toml spells and mages (only with Iron's Spells)
medieval.toml medieval gear (only with a medieval mod)

📦 Coming from TaCZ Armed Mobs?

Remove the old taczarmedmobs jar and start the game:

  • Your settings are taken over. What moved where is listed in imported_from_taczarmedmobs.txt.
  • Old worlds keep their wars, bases, reputation, mercenaries and Armed Guards. Items and contracts keep working.
  • The old files are not changed.
  • The command is now /armedmobs.

📋 Requirements

  • NeoForge 1.21.1 or Forge 1.20.1
  • Install it on both client and server.
  • No required dependencies. Everything above is optional.

❓ FAQ

Do I need TaCZ? No. Without a gun mod, mobs use swords, bows and crossbows.

Can I use it in an existing world? Yes. New villages get Armed Guards, and events start around players right away.

Will it destroy my base? Natural events never start inside your base. Sieges are off by default, and auto repair restores everything the fight changed.

Too much action? Event chances, cooldowns and strength are all in common.toml. Or turn Faction Wars off and keep only the Armed Guards.

Does it work on servers? Yes, singleplayer and dedicated servers. Install the mod on both sides.
