Description

AsteroidCraft

AsteroidCraft replaces the Overworld with an endless void of floating asteroids. Instead of continuous terrain, the world is made of countless separate spheres hanging in empty space — each one a small world to mine, bridge to, and build on. It recreates the classic Planetoids map generator by Seibei as a real mod, generated continuously and infinitely at runtime with no size limit and no external tools.

Features

  • 83 asteroid types (60 in the Overworld, 23 in the Nether): every asteroid is a shell around a core, and the rarer ones hide something valuable deeper inside. Common resources, fluids and many of Minecraft's harder-to-find materials all have a place, so a full playthrough from a single foothold is possible.
  • Structure asteroids: asteroid versions of vanilla's landmarks, holding vanilla's own loot — desert and jungle temples with their traps intact, a complete shipwreck sealed inside a water-filled asteroid, buried treasure that the shipwreck's maps actually lead to, and an abandoned mineshaft spanning four ore asteroids linked by wooden bridges and a rail tunnel.
  • Villager villages: asteroids rebuilt into houses, linked by wooden bridges, with working villagers, wells and crop plots.
  • Archaeology asteroids: sand and gravel ruins that hold suspicious sand and gravel — brush them to recover pottery sherds.
  • The Nether: the same treatment, reached through a portal — a second void world of floating islands with its own asteroid types.
  • The End: reached through a dedicated end-portal asteroid, since regular strongholds are disabled — the End itself is left as unmodified vanilla. The eye of ender points the way.
  • Adapted mob spawning: spawn conditions are adjusted to fit a void world. Water creatures such as fish, squid, dolphins and turtles spawn inside the water of ocean asteroids, striders spawn in lava, and land mobs like endermen are tuned to still appear despite the limited solid ground.

Not everything is reachable yet (though most is) — the mod is actively growing, and each update adds more asteroid types and pulls more of the game into the void.

Loaders and versions

AsteroidCraft runs on NeoForge, Fabric and Forge for Minecraft 26.1.2 and 26.2 — just grab the file matching your loader (the Fabric build also needs Fabric API). It's server-friendly: only the server needs the mod, and players without it can still join. Since it overrides the Overworld and the Nether, start a new world for it to take effect, and avoid pairing it with other mods that change world generation in those dimensions.
