Description
BBS Player Skin Download is a client-side Minecraft mod/addon that automatically downloads and manages player skins for use with the BBS (Blockbuster Studio) mod.
While BBS already allows custom skins for records, this mod makes it possible to use BBS as an in‑game cinematic tool that automatically adapts to each player’s skin by creating two PNG files: one for the skin’s actual model type (default or slim) and a second fully transparent 64×64 PNG for the unused model type.
Made for Forge 1.20.1. (I don’t currently plan to make a Fabric version, as this mod was created for a personal Forge project)
Features:
- Automatically downloads the player’s official Mojang skin.
- Saves skins in a fixed location for BBS (config/bbs/assets/player_skin).
- Generates a transparent PNG for the unused model type.
- Supports both
defaultandslimskin types. - Works entirely client-side.
- Does not interact with BBS; only places the files in the config folder.
Why this is useful for BBS:
By providing both the player’s skin and a transparent placeholder for the other model type, you can duplicate records (on BBS) for each character type (default and slim) and, by using the skins stored in the BBS config folder, automatically display each player’s actual skin in cinematics while keeping the other model hidden, enhancing immersion and making sequences feel personal without manually changing skins for every player !
