Description

Better Fusion Reactor is an addon for Mekanism Generators

Brings few features into game:

1. More challenging fusion reactor. Read description or watch video.

2. Custom coolant support (starting from 1.16+)

3. Irradiator - new machine which uses radiative flux to transform items. (starting from 1.19+)

What’s It All About?

This addon introduces a new layer of challenge and depth to the Mekanism Fusion Reactor. Your main objective is to keep the Current Reactivity (CR) as close as possible to the Target Reactivity (TR). The closer they are, the better your Reaction Efficiency — resulting in more energy, steam per tick, or heat output.

But it’s not just fire-and-forget anymore.

  • If Efficiency drops below 80%, your Error Level will begin to rise.

  • At 100% Error, the reactor shuts down automatically.

  • And if you’ve enabled explosions in the config (disabled by default), it might just go BOOM 💥.

On the flip side:

  • If Efficiency stays above 80%, the Error Level will slowly decrease over time.

Reactivity Is Unstable
TR (Target Reactivity) is a random value between 0 and 100, and it changes periodically, making it impossible to just "set and forget" your reactor. You'll need to either manually control it or create some kind of automation logic — redstone, integrated computers, or external mods.

Watch the Heat Multiplier (HM)
HM affects how fast the Error Level changes and how frequently TR updates.

Lower HM = Longer time between TR changes and slower Error Level gain

  • For manual control, try to keep HM as close to 0 as possible

HM depends on:

  • Plasma Temperature – Adjust your injection rate to find the sweet spot

  • Cooling TypeWater cooling results in a lower Heat Multiplier

Bottom Line:
If you want maximum energy output, you’ll need to automate your reactor control.

Manual operation is possible… but it won’t be easy.

Good luck, engineer.

This addon adds new UI for reactor controller and reactor logic port.

You will have to re-build current reactors if you have any with blocks from this mod.

(WARNING! Functionality and GUI of the mod may be slight different across minecraft versions 1.12, 1.16, 1.18)

Reactor Logic Adapter can emit more signals and it also can receive signals to manage some of reactor parameters.

It also brings new computers functions

Better Fusion Reactor is an addon for Mekanism Generators

Supported versions: 1.12.2, 1.16.5, 1.18.2, 1.19.2

The idea behind this addon is to bring Fusion Reactor from Mekanism a bit more realistic and more challenging to manage.

In real life fusion reaction is very difficult thing and humanity is not yet achieved stable long-term reaction.

By installing this addon you will have to control certain parameters of Fusion Reactor with redstone, computers or manually.

And as higher temperatures as harder to maintain stable reaction.

This addon adds new UI for reactor controller and reactor logic port.

You will have to re-build current reactors if you have any with blocks from this mod.

What is all about?

Your task is to keep Current Reactivity (CT) as close as possible to Target Reactivity (TR) And by that you will get better Reaction Efficiency. That means more energy output, or steam per tick, or heat.

If Efficiency less than 80%, the Error Level will grow up. And if Error Level reaches 100%, Reactor will shutdown. It also can go BOOM 💥 if that is enabled in config. (disabled by default)

If Efficiency greater than 80%, the Error Level will slowly fall down.

Keep in mind Target Reactivity is a random value between 0 and 100, and it changes periodically.

So you can't just ignite your reactor and walk away. You has to spend some time to controll it manually, or implement sort of automation logic on redstone or computers.

Pay attention to Heat Multiplier (Hm). Less value means bigger time span between Target Reactivity reset.

And it also affects how fast Error Level changes. So for the manual control, try to keep it closer to 0.

Heat Multiplier depends on plasma temperature. Play with injection rate and you will find the best value.

It also depends on cooling type. Water cooling - less Heat Multiplier.

But if you want to get more energy, you have to automate reactor controlling. Good Luck.
