Better Vanilla Superflat

Overview

I stopped playing superflat when 1.19 came out and played regular survival for a bit. When I got Swift Sneak, It was a game changer. So I set out to make a mod that brought swift sneak to superflat in a way that feels consistent with standard survival. While I was doing that I decided to try to do the same for bamboo. This is the result and it ended up way cooler than I originally expected, we now get deepslate and amethyst, while maintaining the feel of superflat.

Ancient Cities

If you just mod Minecraft to generate Ancient Cities, you get them in a similar style to the strongholds. While it presents a new and interesting game mechanic for strong holds, it makes Ancient Cities a pale reflection of their survival counterparts. To solve this problem, this mod generates a deepslate shell around each Ancient City and adds the sculk that the plains biome lacks (but is everywhere in the deep dark biome). This makes The Ancient City experience similar to the survival versions, and gives access to deepslate. Additionally the Minecraft worldgen algorithm will add the occasional geode to the deepslate shell. 

Bamboo

Bamboo and scaffolding are sadily inaccessible to superflat players. This mod adds them in a simple yet surprising way. To add bamboo, this mod adds a single bamboo to buried treasure and generates it scattered around the superflat world. You could just dig up your whole world, but maxed out cartographer's might sell you a map to find one.

Flowers

Small flowers should be in every world. They don't change the gameplay, but the everything looks nicer! Also if you add this mod to an existing world the flowers will let you know when you're exploring new chunks.

Consistency

Every version of Minecraft seems to either add or remove outposts and ruined portals from superflat. This mod also adds them if they your world is was created on a minecraft version that lacked them.

Important Notes

This mod changes the generation frequency of Ancient Cities and Buried Treasure. If you use this mod in a normal survival world, both will be much less common than normal. You might want to run this mod in a separate superflat only Minecraft instance.
