Description

Better Nether: New Dawn

Better Nether: New Dawn is an unofficially maintained continuation of BetterNether for Fabric and NeoForge.

The Fabric edition is based on the original BetterNether codebase and includes continued maintenance, bug fixes, balance adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements.

The NeoForge edition brings the same functionality to NeoForge with the loader-specific adaptations required for compatibility.

Unless otherwise specified, the fixes and improvements listed below are included in both the Fabric and NeoForge editions.

Please make sure to download the correct file for your Minecraft version and mod loader.

How this project differs from the original

  • Platforms: supports both Fabric and NeoForge
  • Fabric edition: a maintained version of the original Fabric codebase with additional fixes, balance adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements
  • NeoForge edition: an unofficial port adapted for NeoForge
  • Goal: continued maintenance and consistent functionality across supported mod loaders
  • Scope: functionality is kept as close to the original project as reasonably possible, with shared bug fixes, selected balance changes, and loader-specific compatibility adjustments where required

Fixes and improvements

  • New content from official fabric versions available on 1.21.1!
  • Added compatibility with the TerraBlender and Lithostitched libraries and mods that use it (Luminous Nether, Garden of the Dead, Biomes O' Plenty, Oh The Biomes We've Gone, Regions Unexplored, etc.)
  • Added config to disable biomes and structures
  • Only use Bark wood variant for trees (thanks RedCraft86)
  • Improved music system (thanks RedCraft86)
  • Ruby compat tags (thanks RedCraft86)
  • Fixed: crash when clicking on the Respawn Statue
  • Fixed: Cincinnasite furnace does not drop when mined in 1.21 (thanks happykgit)
  • Fixed: “flying block” issue in 1.21 (thanks happykgit)
  • Fixed: Golden vine does not drop in 1.21 (thanks happykgit)
  • Fixed: Hook mushroom does not drop in 1.21 (thanks happykgit)
  • Fixed: Giant lucis drops loot twice in 1.21 (thanks happykgit)
  • Fixed: Eye Plants not dropping loot (thanks Myrrium)
  • Fixed: Fireflies do not spawn from monster spawners (thanks nothingtown)
  • Fixed (datagen): the automatic tag provider only looked at blocks with the BlockTagDataProvider interface and ignored blocks with the org.betterx.wover.block.api.BlockTagProvider interface (such as BlockTerrain). As a result, runData was writing to wover:surfaces/nether/terrain only what came from other sources
  • Change (suggestion): changed all fire bowl blocks to use lit instead of fire (thanks Cicopath)
  • Change (suggestion): Nether Brewing Stand now brews 2× faster, 200 ticks; UI progress remains correct (thanks AcaGamer5)
  • Change (suggestion): Willow wood renamed to Nether Willow in all languages, with native localized wording (thanks AcaGamer5)
  • Change (suggestion): removed the Sculk Catalyst from loot tables (thanks Yukiroshi). It was too easy to obtain Fireruby gear early; now you’ll have to pay a visit to the Warden
  • Change (suggestion): full translation for ru_ru.json (thanks FO13E)
  • Change (suggestion): prevent the Fireruby pickaxe from smelting ores when it has the Silk Touch enchantment (thanks TimVincii)
  • Change (suggestion): new name for moss cover in the Russian translation (thanks happykgit)
