Description

Botany Pots Created by DarkhaxDev

Updated to 26.2

Botany Pots is a mod that allows you to grow crops, flowers, and other plants in fully customizable pots.

Pot Types

Basic Botany Pot: A simple block used to grow plants, ignoring environmental factors like light levels or nearby water. To start, right-click the pot to add soil and a seed. Once fully grown, right-click again to harvest and automatically replant. They come in a wide variety of colors and materials.

Waxed Botany Pot: A purely decorative variant optimized for minimal performance impact. Seeds planted in a waxed pot will instantly appear fully grown but cannot be harvested or bonemealed.

Hopper Botany Pots: An automated upgrade to the basic pot. Fully grown crops are automatically harvested, replanted, and deposited into an internal inventory or a container directly below. Right-clicking reveals a 12-slot inventory and an optional harvest tool slot.

Harvest Tools & Modifiers

When using a Hopper Botany Pot, you can insert a specific tool to dictate the type of drops you receive (e.g., using shears to get wheat seeds from tall grass). Tools and soils also actively modify how your crops grow:

Growth Modifiers: Speed up your crop growth. Tilled dirt, for instance, grows crops 10% faster than standard dirt. Efficiency enchantments on a harvest tool will increase growth speed by an additional 5% per level.

Yield Modifiers: Increase the number of drops you get per harvest. Fortune and Looting enchantments add a +10% yield per level.

Bonus Drops: If your yield goes above 100%, you gain a chance for extra drops. For example, a 150% yield gives you one guaranteed set of drops and a 50% chance for a second set. A 450% yield guarantees four sets with a 50% chance at a fifth.

Yield Scale: A custom property applied to specific crops to limit how much yield modifiers affect them. For example, applying a +1000% yield modifier to a crop with a 10% yield scale will only result in a +100% actual yield. This feature is primarily used by modpack creators for custom balancing.

Unique Mechanics

Pot Interactions: Interact with a botany pot to trigger special recipes. For example, right-clicking a pot containing dirt with a hoe will transform it into farmland. You can also mix lava and specific soils directly in the pot to create obsidian.

Curse of Idle Hands: A custom enchantment designed for automated farming. It completely protects a harvest tool from durability damage while inside a botany pot. However, it renders the tool utterly useless for normal gameplay by removing its mining speed, attack damage, and interaction distance.

Debug Commands

/botanypots debug check_crops: Spawns a botany pot at your location and tests every crop to find common issues, such as missing drop definitions (Note: may produce false positives/negatives).

/botanypots debug missing soils [gen_files]: Scans game data for undefined soils. If gen_files is set to true, it attempts to generate datapack files for them (always double-check these generated files).

/botanypots debug missing seeds [saplings] [gen_files]: Scans for undefined crops (saplings excluded by default). Setting gen_files to true will generate starting datapack files for the missing crops.

/botanypots debug place_seeds [pos] [all_soils]: Generates a grid of pots for every defined seed starting at a specific position. Setting all_soils to true tests every single soil/seed combination; otherwise, it only tests the first valid soil for each seed.
