About

Description

Build a brewery where every batch has a method worth learning. Prepare ingredients in a copper kettle, manage heat and stirring, then ferment, distill or age your brew as its recipe requires. Bottle the result, seal it for your collection, or pour it into a tankard from a serving keg.

The current build includes **196 drink recipes, 130 effects, eight brewing machines, and the Brewdream dimension** for **Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 on NeoForge**.

## Brew by hand and improve each batch

A kettle batch produces four servings. Exact ingredients, cooking time, temperature, stirring, distillation passes and aging conditions determine how it turns out.

- **Copper Kettle:** combine ingredients with water and bottles, control the heat, and stir at the right moments.
- **Fermentation Vat:** process matching portions with a yeast culture.
- **Copper Still:** choose your distillation passes and manage a reusable charcoal filter.
- **Oak, Spruce and Birch Cellar Casks:** age a batch in the right wood and decide when to finish it. Each cask forms a 2-by-2-by-3 multiblock.
- **Sealing Bench:** label and seal finished glass servings.
- **Serving Keg:** store up to 16 matching servings and pour them into reusable tankards.

Aim for **Standard, Fine or Masterwork** quality. Better batches extend helpful effects, shorten harmful effects and accumulate less hangover debt. Missed steps reduce the score; a badly spoiled batch becomes Spoiled Brew. Processing advances while the stations are loaded, rather than finishing offline.

## Discover recipes and choose your effects

The catalog spans 20 families, from wheat ales, ciders and spirits to broths, coffee, tea, cocoa and dream draughts. It includes both alcoholic and alcohol-free recipes.

The **Brewer's Journal** brings recipes, effects, workshop guidance and collection records together in a native interface. Nineteen original methods start known. Successful production reveals more methods, while Taster's Focus and Vision Bottles provide other discovery routes. Knowledge belongs to your player, so replacing the Journal does not erase it.

The 130 effects cover practical benefits, drawbacks and cosmetic changes:

- Travel with effects such as River Lungs, Cloudfall and Quickstep.
- Support mining, farming, fishing and brewing with specialized effects and private readouts.
- Try foam moustaches, masquerades, toasts and other visual flourishes.
- Plan around harmful effects and the replacement of your active helpful effect set when you drink a new timed combination.

## Intoxication has consequences

Alcoholic drinks contribute to intoxication and hangover debt. Increasing intoxication can bring stumbling, slurred chat, hiccups, nausea, vomiting and blackouts. At maximum intoxication, pass-out can disconnect a player; immediate rejoining is allowed. A published LAN host blacks out instead of closing the world for guests.

Server settings let you disable intoxication or adjust individual drunk behaviors. Personal settings include reduced motion, particle density, audio controls and HUD placement. These are fictional in-game systems, not real-world brewing instructions.

## Explore the Brewdream

Sleep in a usable bed during a blackout to enter a floating-island dream of giant bottles, suspended casks and sunset-colored skies. A Rebound Bloom offers another way in.

- Search for **Vision Bottles** that reveal unknown recipes.
- Open **Dream Stashes** whose loot changes between the Still, Drift and Rebound phases.
- Find keepsakes and tools such as the Half-Moon Flagon, Still-Point Top and Tinker's Borrowed Crown.
- Encounter hypnic drops, distant thunder, Rebound Blooms and the pink-elephant Parade.
- Bring back ingredients for six dream draughts, including **Sunset Spritz, Cloudborne Cider and Visionary Cordial**.

The dream begins with a limited timer. Drinking there extends it with diminishing returns, while sobering up makes it fade faster. There is no fixed stay-length cap. Use a dream bed to wake deliberately; running out of time, falling away or taking lethal damage also ends the dream.

## Installation and compatibility

- **Minecraft:** Java Edition 1.21.1.
- **Loader:** NeoForge 21.1.200 or newer within the 1.21.1 line; the project targets 21.1.252.
- **Java:** 21.
- **Required additional mods:** none. The YAML library used by the importer is bundled.
- **Install location:** put the mod JAR in the `mods` folder. For multiplayer, install it on the server and every connecting client.
- **Recipe viewers:** optional JEI and EMI integration shows brewing methods your player knows. The integrations were developed against JEI 19.64.0.454 and EMI 1.1.24.
- **Multiplayer:** designed for single-player and modded servers, with server-validated machine actions and public or owner-only access. Dedicated development-server boot is documented; testing with two real clients and larger server loads remains outstanding.

Compatibility with other mods and protection systems is still being evaluated. No specific claim-protection adapter is included.

## Server settings and automation

Configure recipe visibility, machine automation, default machine access, drink cooldowns, disabled effects, intoxication and dream behavior. Public machines support sided item transfer and supported redstone actions; owner-only machines reject automation. Kettle stirring remains an interactive step.

Recipes and effect definitions can be replaced through datapacks within the mod's registered content and validation rules. Operators can use the **Brewmaster's Ledger** to edit settings and access diagnostic controls.

## Development status

**Version 1.4.0 remains in development.** The brewing pipeline, Journal, effects, drunkenness, dream dimension, dream finds and six dream draughts are implemented. Balance, dream-event frequency and broader compatibility still need playtesting.

**Experimental migration:** a Brewery-data importer and automatic conversion of supported plugin drinks are included. Use `/brewhaven import brewery dryrun` on a backup copy before committing an import. Pending barrel aging, cauldrons, wake-up points, statistics and pre-2.0 legacy brews are not transferred. Migration from a real production Brewery world and the standalone installed-server path remain unverified.

**Not included:** looping bridges, whirl islands, the false awakening and Lord's Chamber, the Undercloud, and ghostly bowlers. These are research ideas for possible later development, not current features or promised updates. Dream chunks generated before 1.4.0 also retain their older cloud-striped cliffs; the terrain change applies to newly generated chunks.
