Description

### Apocalyptic, cinematic magic for Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks.

Snap your fingers to detonate the air, drop a mushroom cloud, or smash two worlds together into a meteor storm. Calamity Spells is built for players who have outgrown Legendary.

4.1 gives the bosses, boss weapons and armor new animated 3D models (the Dharma Knight and the armor keep a crisp block look, now with cloth that moves), makes the two nukes four times as big, with radiation, a towering 3D mushroom cloud and a pillar of light, turns World's End into two planets colliding, adds a new Divine spell, Starfall, and turns the three bosses into titans that can't be one-shot; 4.0 rebuilt every spell's visuals and added World's End. Features 21 spells in 3 new schools, plus a Mythic tier 3 titan bosses with huge health and fully animated 3D models, a celestial dimension and new Nether and Overworld structures Real destruction: the biggest spells leave craters, flatten the land and melt tunnels A new effects engine: self-drawing magic circles, shockwaves, 26 new sounds Quality of life: healing that scales with max health, and a compact health bar Spells Calamity (red) Focus: Magma Block. Scales with Fire Spell Power. Scroll Forge or loot.

Snap (Common–Epic): snap your fingers and the air explodes where you aim. Crimson Inferno (Common–Legendary): a crimson arrow raises a fire tornado that pulls enemies in. Railgun (Epic–Mythic): a 64-block beam that hits everything in line, through walls that stay intact. Echo Detonation (Epic–Legendary): brand every target in sight within 14 blocks; the seals detonate in a chain. Atomic (Legendary–Mythic): a collapsing sphere drags enemies in, then erupts into a mini mushroom cloud that blasts the terrain like TNT. Singularity (Epic–Mythic): a drifting mini black hole eats a tunnel, grinds monsters and implodes. Chaos Storm (Rare–Mythic): a storm vortex follows you, chaining purple lightning through hostile monsters. While it rages, your mining breaks 3x3x3 with Fortune (sneak to mine single blocks). Chaos Lance (Uncommon–Mythic): a conjured lance and netherite-tier pickaxe; thrown, it bursts into seeking shards and bores a 3x3 tunnel. Hold G to transmute it into the Chaos Scythe (wide sweeps; a 360-degree reap that pulls enemies in and steals life), the Shadow Blade (lightning-fast slashes, a dash and a flying slash wave) or the Inverted Dagger (heavy strikes that ignore armor and magic protection and interrupt spells; thrown on its chain to drag the target back). Snap 5 (Mythic): in survival, only from Snap 4 + a Dragon Egg in the Arcane Anvil (the egg is kept).

Boundless (dark purple) Focus: Holy Essence, from the Dharma Knight. Scales with Fire Spell Power. Scroll Forge only.

Oppenheimer (Mythic): siren, countdown, a towering mushroom cloud you can see from far away, and a shockwave that kills nearly everything within 192 blocks and badly hurts, throws and burns out to 384; radiation then covers 768 blocks for 30 seconds. I Am Atomic (Legendary, spellbook only): an atomic circle holds enemies suspended in the air; recast within 10 seconds and a colossal dome of violet light swells as the shockwave annihilates nearly everything within 128 blocks and badly hurts out to 256, then folds into a pillar of light that stands while radiation covers 512 blocks for 30 seconds. Three versions, chosen with G while the spell is selected: Atomic (a strike of your sword of light sends the blast to where you aim, up to 160 blocks away), All-Range Atomic (the sword is driven into the ground and the blast surrounds you) and Recovery Atomic (aimed, in white-gold light: instead of killing it heals the living, purifies the undead and turns zombie villagers back into villagers, then leaves a cleansing field instead of radiation). Atomic Breath (Legendary): charge for 8 seconds, then sweep a blinding violet-blue beam that explodes on contact and melts through terrain (the Dharma Knight and Avatar barely feel it). Immunity Basket (Epic–Mythic): a basket of light that blocks nearly all damage while draining your mana. Summon: Dharma Knight (Legendary–Mythic): the Knight fights for you, or sneak-cast for just its adapting Dharma Wheel. Divine (gold) Focus: Starry Essence, from the Dharma Avatar. Scales with Holy Spell Power. Mythic-only, forged with Mythic Ink.

Celestial Palm: giant golden hands fall from the sky, ending in a stunning clap. Dharma Mandala: a golden mandala pulls enemies in, then slams them with a column of light. Divine Orbs: hold to keep the Dharma Wheel turning behind you, firing golden orbs that hunt down nearby enemies on their own until you let go or run out of mana. Rings of Light: four waves of golden light roll out across the ground. Planet: three realistic planets shatter on impact, leaving burning, freezing or poisonous circles. Mega Ray: hold to fire the Dharma Avatar's galaxy beam for up to 8 seconds, melting a tunnel through the terrain. World's End: the Earth and a molten red world burst from two portals in the sky and collide in a blinding fireball; their wreckage rains down as a storm of burning meteors that leave craters. Starfall (new in 4.1): hands of light tear the sky open onto the universe; its stars go supernova one after another and their burning fragments rain down across a wide area. Reaching Mythic Mythic Ink (Holy Essence + Legendary Ink): with a scroll in your other hand, right-click to raise any spell whose range ends in Mythic. The damage spells among them can also get there at the Arcane Anvil with Legendary Ink.

Bosses All three bosses are titans: the Dharma Knight has 50,000 health, the Calamity Asura 100,000 and the Dharma Avatar 500,000 (the Asura and the Avatar get more for each extra player), shown in numbers on the boss bar. No single hit takes more than 1% of their health, no more than 4% goes per second, and no hit skips a phase. Once you have more than 1,000 max health, their attacks also take a share of it (2.5 to 25% per attack, through armor and other mods' defenses), so they still hurt in power-scaling modpacks; in a normal game nothing changes. In return, this mod's biggest spells deal bonus damage based on max health to creatures with more than 1,000 health. /kill still works.

Calamity Asura A six-armed Nether fire demon. Kill hostile mobs in the Nether with Calamity-school (red) spells for Calamity Ash, craft an Ash Eye to find an Ash Citadel, and use the Eye on the Ash Altar at its center. Winning once is only half the fight.

Dharma Knight A hooded giant whose Dharma Wheel turns at 75, 50, 25 and 10% health, hardening it each time; from 50% it ignores ranged attacks. The wheel cannot adapt to Divine spells. A Dharma Seal, crafted with a Nether Star, opens a portal to the Celestial Sanctuary; use it again on the Dharma Altar there.

Dharma Avatar The final boss, a giant six-armed Avatar, descends through a rift in the sky. Its attacks scale with your max health and pierce armor, and knocking it to zero health is not the end. The Celestial Key, crafted with the Celestial Key Fragment the Knight drops, raises a staircase from the Dharma Altar; use it again on the Celestial Altar at the top.

Worlds and structures Celestial Sanctuary: a starry dimension above golden clouds, with a floating island, the Tower of Dharma and three ruined sky cities. Ash Citadel (Nether): a blackstone fortress over a lava lake, with Blaze and Wither Skeleton spawners. Dharma Temple (Overworld): a rare open-air landmark with the Dharma Wheel inlaid in its floor. The Ash Citadel and Dharma Temple only generate in new chunks; the Sanctuary is built on your first visit.

Weapons, staffs, armor and relics Boss weapons: the Asura Vajra (Meteor Rain from your off-hand), the Sword of Extermination (stacking damage, three abilities) and the Celestial Chakram (seven attacks). Staffs and grimoires: animated Calamity and Divine Staffs, plus the Calamity and Awakened Dharma Grimoires. Armor: a Smithing Table chain from Netherite to Calamity to Dharma, plus the Mystic Hood with a flowing cloth cape. On players, armor stands and vanilla mobs that wear it, the armor is 3D: block pieces in the classic pixel style, with a tabard, mantle tails, ribbons and capes that move. Relics: rings, necklaces, a Mana Belt, the Dharma Halo, the flying Celestial Cloud, an Endless Lunchbox and a never-empty Lotus Flask. The boss weapons are 3D everywhere: in hand, on the ground, in item frames and in the inventory.

Weapon attacks use a radial wheel (default G); the Vajra's special uses V.

Requirements Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.2+ (47.4.0+ recommended; Iron's Spells 3.16.3 requires it) Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks 1.20.1-3.16+ (built against 3.16.3) and its dependencies: Curios API, GeckoLib, Player Animator, Iron's Lib Java 17 Installation Install on both server and clients, with the same version everywhere. Updating? Replace the old jar with the new one. Performance Weaker PC? In config/calamity_spells-client.properties (create the file if it's missing), set fx_quality to medium (about half the particles) or low (about a quarter). The default value alto means high; medio and baixo also work. Restart after editing. Distant effects are simplified.

### FAQ Fabric? Other versions? No. Forge and Minecraft 1.20.1 only.

Multiplayer? Yes. This mod's spells never hit you or your spell summons, and they spare other players when PvP or team friendly fire is off. Tamed pets are not spared by default, so keep them clear of big spells. With a Ring of Friendship, your spells (Iron's too) won't damage other players. The Asura and Avatar scale with group size.

Do this mod's spells break blocks? Yes. The big ones reshape the world:

I Am Atomic: a molten bowl 256 blocks around the blast that goes all the way down to bedrock, with a rim of debris. Oppenheimer: flattens everything above the ground within 384 blocks, mountains included, and opens a blast crater about 160 blocks wide and 76 deep at ground zero. Atomic: a TNT-like explosion. Atomic Breath and Mega Ray: melt tunnels along their beams. World's End: every meteor leaves a small crater. Starfall: every star fragment leaves a small scorched crater. Chaos Storm: while active, your mining breaks 3x3x3 with Fortune (sneak to mine normally). Chaos Lance and Singularity: mine tunnels and send the drops to your inventory with Fortune. Destruction never touches unbreakable blocks, the Celestial Sanctuary or the Asura's arena mid-fight. The mining spells (Chaos Storm, Chaos Lance, Singularity) also leave liquids and containers alone, but craters, flattening and melting don't spare chests or builds, so cast the big ones far from home.

Want the terrain left intact? /gamerule calamityTerrainDestruction false turns off every block change from this mod's spells. You can also switch it off in the Game Rules screen when creating a world.

The I Am Atomic and Oppenheimer craters can take a few minutes to finish. Want them faster? /gamerule calamityCraterSpeed 800 digs 8 times faster (heavier lag while it digs) and 50 digs at half speed (lighter). It's a percentage, 100 by default, from 10 to 5000, and it takes effect right away, even on a crater already in progress.

Running a server? Server owners can turn off all terrain changes from this mod's spells with /gamerule calamityTerrainDestruction false (it's also in the Game Rules screen when creating a world, under Miscellaneous). With it off, no spell from this mod breaks, places or melts blocks, including the Chaos Lance and Singularity tunnels. Damage and effects stay the same; the beams stop at walls instead of melting through. It takes effect immediately, even on spells already in progress, and is saved with the world.

It's a dedicated rule: terrain destruction ignores the mobGriefing game rule and Iron's spellGriefing option, and it doesn't go through Forge's block-break event, so claim and protection mods usually can't stop it. To remove specific spells entirely, disable them in Iron's Spells' spell configuration.
