New semi-OP cardboard tools, weapons, armor, and enchants. But don't be fooled - it's a lot harder to get cardboard in this mod than in real life!

Description

Cardboard Mod:

Wow. This mod has been a multi-month project. Even this description was deleted, because I left the modrinth draft unasigned for too long. Every single texture in this mod was hand-designed by me. But I’m guessing you don’t want to know that. So here’s [most] of the info you’ll ever need about the Cardboard mod. For now, it’s only the beta version of the mod, I’ll update the armor textures, powers, enchants, and such later but for now I need to at least get the beta version of the mod out.

I'm working on a wiki right now, please be patient :)

Side note: This is my biggest project yet, and has taken so much effort, time, physical PC resources, and more. If you want to support the project, following it (The heart emoji) both hugely supports me and tells you when there's an update - which I highly recommend, seeing how many things I'll be adding in the (near) future!

Oh and also... If you want to suggest changes to the mod, add new features, want to report a bug, or anything else (I'm sure you've seen this before so I won't yap too much) you can Join the discord here.

Since it's not super obvious, here's how to get the new cardboard tools and armor: Step 1: Get 9 sugarcane and craft it into paper. Keep atleast 7. Next, get a water bucket and combine it in your inventory with your 3 paper to get 3 wet paper. You can also combine the water bucket with 8 paper in a crafting table to get 8 dried paper. Now, craft a drier (Recipe below) and right click it with your wet paper. It will take exactly 100 server-side ticks, or about 10 seconds before outputing dried paper. Once you have your dried paper, combine it in an anvil shape (Recipe also below) with string on the sides to get one cardboard. From here onwards, the tutorial will be for a cardboard sword, but you can also use it for cardboard armor and tools. Next, craft a golden stick with 8 gold nuggets surrounding one stick (Recipe also below). Next, go to the nether. You'll need a netherite upgrade template and one netherite scrap. Now go back to the overworld and get one diamond, one gold ingot, and one iron ingot. Put the upgrade template in the middle, the cardboard on the 4 corners with the netherite scrap on the top, the diamond on the left, the gold on the right, and the iron on the bottom. This crafts a netherite upgrader (Better name coming). If you've made it this far hang in there, because this is almost the last step. You must combine, in the smithing table, the netherite upgrader on the left, an iron ingot in the middle, and a peice of cardboard on the right to get a cardboard frame. Now, for the second to last step, combine a cardboard frame and one peice of cardboard in the crafting table to create proscessed cardboard (Also new name in progress). Proscessed cardboard can be used in place of any ore for armor, however for tools such as the cardboard sword you need to use a golden stick in place of a regular stick (See recipes below).

This isn’t supposed to be a vanilla-like mod. Quite the contrary, this is the kind of thing that would never, ever, be added to Minecraft. So, here’s a list of all the custom recipes, blocks, properties, abilities, powers, custom attacks, and everything else there is about this mod. Cardboard Sword: Strikes (purely visual) lightning and launches your opponent roughly 10-20 blocks into the air, gives strength 2 while you hold it (And for 8 seconds after you stop holding it) and applies glowing to all nearby players within 512 blocks Cardboard Axe: Gives haste 2 like the pickaxe. Cardboard Pickaxe: Gives haste 2 and night vision, both lasting 8 seconds after you stop holding it. Cardboard Shovel: Nothing unique… For now Cardboard Hoe: Does nothing (For now). In the future, I’ll add a custom enchant specifically for the cardboard hoe that makes it drop ores like diamonds, iron, gold, lapis, copper, etc.

Custom Item Details

Cardboard Helmet: Gives water breathing for 8 seconds while you’re wearing it. Be forewarned, in the future you’ll need to apply a custom enchantment to it to get this effect.

Cardboard Chestplate: Nothing... For now!

Cardboard Leggings: Also nothing... Also for now!

Cardboard Boots: Gives dolphin’s grace (Not as strong as if an actual dolphin gave it to you) while you have it. The effect lasts for 8 seconds after you take the boots off. Again, in a future update you’ll need a custom enchantment to get this effect.

Development log:

  • Switched from items being crafted with cardboard to being crafted with cardboard and cardboard frames filling every empty slot. Frames are crafted with a netherite ingot, netherite upgrade template, a diamond, iron, and gold to make a netherite upgrader which is non-duplicable and 1 is needed per cardboard frame.

  • Since it seemed too hard to get the cardboard upgraders, they’re now crafted with a netherite scrap instead of a netherite ingot. You’re welcome, guys!

  • Removed cardboard frames – atleast in the way they were being used. Now, you have to craft processed cardboard with a cardboard frame and cardboard and use that in the place of ingots for recipes like armor and tools.

  • Made it so you need a custom enchanted book, the Spectral enchant, for the sword to apply glowing to nearby players.

  • Added a recipe for the drier (Finally).
