Description
Char's Bunnies
(Wooly bunny update coming soon)
Char's Bunnies is a rabbit breeding, genetics, and progression mod that currently adds over 16 different rabbit breeds to Minecraft 1.12.2.

You start by finding and taming wild European Rabbits. Through selective breeding, you can eventually obtain domestic breeds such as Netherland Dwarfs, Dwarf Hotots, Dutch Rabbits, Himalayans, Polish Rabbits, Giant Papillons, Lionheads, Holland Lops, English Lops, French Lops, and more.
Rabbits can inherit different coat colors, sizes, weights, personalities, and hidden genetic traits, so breeding two rabbits can produce very different results. Some rare colors require specific breeding combinations or rabbits carrying hidden genes.
Rabbits also have their own ages, generations, pedigrees, family trees, personalities, and bonded partners, giving each rabbit a little more individuality than just being a different texture.
Rabbit Encyclopedia
The mod includes an in-game Rabbit Encyclopedia that lets you browse the different breeds, coat colors, weight ranges, breeding information, and how each breed can be obtained.
You can also right-click one of your rabbits with the encyclopedia to open its personal profile. This shows information such as its name, sex, age, weight, breed, color, generation, genetic carriers, personality, bonded partner, and family tree.
Breeding & Raising Rabbits
Feed two tamed rabbits a carrot, dandelion, or golden carrot to begin breeding.
Rabbits spend about 5 minutes breeding, followed by a 15-minute pregnancy for the female.
Baby rabbits take around 6 Minecraft days to naturally reach adulthood. Their growth can also be sped up by feeding them wheat.
Some rabbit breeds and colors cannot simply be found in the wild and must instead be created through breed progression and selective breeding.
Controls & Other Features
- Feed a rabbit a carrot to tame it.
- Crouch + right-click empty-handed to pick up a rabbit. Crouch again to put it down. Large breeds cannot be carried.
- Right-click a baby rabbit empty-handed to name it.
- Right-click a rabbit with paper to rename it.
- Right-click a rabbit with the Rabbit Encyclopedia to view its profile and pedigree.
- Use an Adoption Certificate to rehome an unwanted rabbit.
- I recommend using JEI to view crafting recipes for the mod's items.
Beta
Char's Bunnies is still in beta, so I am continuing to add new breeds, coat colors, genetics, progression routes, and other features.
My goal is to eventually have around 30+ rabbit breeds, and I also plan to bring the mod to additional Minecraft versions once the original version is complete.
All models and textures in Char's Bunnies are made by me.
Some breeds or coat colors may appear in the encyclopedia before their full survival progression has been finished.
Suggestions and feedback are always welcome!
