Description

Ever been in a hurry but those pesky iron ores are nowhere to be seen? Do you want to prioritize crafting armor pieces with the few diamonds you got? Worry no more, here you have an honest-to-deity cheap alternative, as good as the real one and for only a fraction of the price.

This mod helps you kickstart your adventure journey by providing you an alternative (and cheaper) way to get your hands on iron and diamond tools. With very easy to find materials you can craft our certified I Can't Believe It's Not Iron and I Can't Believe It's Not Diamonds very trusty alternatives, and be on your merry way.

But everything that looks too good to be true, probably is. There's an itsy bitsy very tiny little small chance for the tool to not behave as expected. Very rarely they can break, or fizzle and not do what was expected, and in extra rare cases, break with a bit of an explosion. Nothing too serious, of course.

Materials

  • Cheapo Iron — crafted from flint and clay
  • Cheapo Diamond — crafted from lapis lazuli and bone meal

Swap the substitute material into the vanilla tool recipe shapes (sticks unchanged) to craft tools that match their vanilla counterpart's stats exactly — mining level, durability, speed, attack damage, enchantability. The discount is entirely in the recipe.

The Fine Print

Every use (breaking a block with a digging tool, hitting an entity with the sword) rolls against a configurable failure chance. On a failed roll, one of three outcomes replaces the normal result:

  • Fizzle — nothing happens, tool undamaged
  • Break — the tool is destroyed immediately
  • Explode — a small explosion at the block/entity location

Failure chance and the fizzle/break/explode weighting are configurable independently for all ten (tier, tool) combinations, via the in-game config screen or the TOML config file directly — no recompiling needed to rebalance.
