Important:

Upgrading from 1.1 or older

Delete the old jar first. Up to 1.1 the mod was called ChestTracker, under the id chest-tracker — the id changed, so Fabric would load both and you would get two search screens on the same keys. Your settings and indexes move over by themselves on first launch.

Find your stuff without opening a single chest.

ChestIndex indexes containers across your world and lets you search their contents — including unloaded chunks.

Both keys can be rebound in Minecraft's Controls menu.

Servers

On servers with ChestIndex installed, the server can provide full container data with configurable permissions.

On vanilla servers, ChestIndex only indexes containers and contents your client can legitimately see or has opened. No server scanning or automated interaction is used.
