Description

Chimera Craft

Chimera Craft is a Fabric mod for Minecraft 26.2 that reinvents mob morphing. Instead of turning into one creature, you absorb individual body parts from the mobs you hunt and combine them into a custom loadout — a spider's climbing legs, a blaze's fireball arms, a warden's echolocating head, all on one player at once. Collect a mob's whole set and you can fully morph into it: model, hitbox, weaknesses and all.

⚙️ 87 absorbable mobs · four body slots each · a shared essence resource · full multiplayer & relog-persistent sync.

🧬 How it works

Body parts

Every absorbable mob offers up to four parts, one per slot. Each slot follows a consistent rule, so you can plan a build without reading every tooltip:

Slot What it grants (on top of the part's special ability)
Head The mob's signature active / sense ability
Arms Attack reach and damage
Body The mob's max health
Legs The mob's movement speed

Fill every slot a mob offers (and leave the rest empty) to form a full set — which also grants that mob's exact hitbox and its weakness (water, sunlight, and so on). Power comes with a price.

Absorbing parts

Two ways to claim a part — both give you one random unowned part of that mob:

  1. Absorb on kill — slay an absorbable mob for a chance to tear off one of its parts. The chance scales with the mob's health: a chicken or zombie rarely gives one up (~5–10%), while a boss is nearly guaranteed. Tough prey pays out.
  2. Sample by observation (no kill needed) — hold your crosshair on a living mob and keep your gaze steady. After a short focus you start channelling its essence (you'll see it wisp toward you), each moment carrying a slight chance to yield a part. Weak mobs test your patience; bosses sample fast — if you can hold their gaze.

Morphing

With a full set equipped, hit the Morph key to become the real mob — animated model, hitbox, and vulnerabilities. Morphing costs a little essence.

🎮 Controls

Default keybinds (rebindable in Options → Controls → Chimera Craft):

Key Action
M Open the Body-Part loadout menu
Z / X / C / V Fire the Head / Body / Arms / Legs active ability
G Toggle full-set Morph on/off
N Toggle hiding your name tag (drains essence)

Some abilities are movement-based and use vanilla inputs while their part is equipped — double-tap sprint to rift-step with enderman legs, hold jump to hover with blaze legs, glide with phantom wings, and more.

🏆 Progression & advancements

A dedicated advancement branch doubles as a goal roadmap: absorb your first part, sample a living mob, equip a full set, morph, absorb from a boss, and ultimately collect parts from every mob in the roster.

⚙️ Configuration

Nearly everything is tunable in config/chimera.json (created on first launch) — absorb chances, health scaling, sampling behaviour, essence pool size, and global cooldown / essence-cost multipliers. Server admins get /chimera give commands for testing.
