Description

Cobble Instincts

Wild Pokémon that behave like living creatures, not wandering statues.

A configurable behavior engine for Cobblemon, inspired by Pokémon species, types and Pokédex stories.

Highlights

  • Living wildlife: Pokémon burrow, climb, hunt in packs, gather, flee, play and react to the weather.
  • Companions and ecosystems: healing, fetching, trading, family defense, rivalries and species-specific interactions.
  • Your world, your rules: Nature-based personality, configurable intensity, optional combat integrations and controls for world protection and performance.

What's new since 0.22.1

Latest Beta: 0.29.5 for Minecraft 1.20.1 / 0.9.7 for Minecraft 1.21.1.

  • Pokémon Eggs: mating pairs leave placeable 3D eggs with type-colored shells and spots. Pick them up with an empty hand; their tooltip shows what will hatch and the remaining time. Wild parents defend their eggs.
  • Psyduck’s headache: repeated hits build a pulsing psychic warning, followed by a burst that launches nearby targets and leaves them dizzy. Escape happens after the burst.
  • Stronger reactions: improved Mimikyu disguise, Diglett fusion progress, predator attacks, village defense, rival retreats and blinding ink.
  • Clearer visuals: cocoon silk, flying scavengers, Shellder’s glowing attachment sequence, treasure indicators and improved environmental reactions.
  • Safer item handling: fixes for stolen loot during chunk unloads and dimension changes, plus initialization/resource-reload fixes.

Coraza adds progressive defense to Pokémon that know Harden on Forge/NeoForge. It and selected experimental instincts are disabled by default; choose what to enable in the configuration.

Configuration & commands

Open the searchable menu from the Mods screen, or Mod Menu on Fabric. Configure individual instincts, species, intensity and client visuals. On servers, operators edit server settings; other players receive a read-only view.

Advanced settings live in config/cobbleinstincts/behaviors.json. Reload changes with /cobbleinstincts reload. Inspect behaviors with /cobbleinstincts info and performance with /cobbleinstincts perf.

Compatibility

Optional integrations include Cobble Strike or Fight or Flight for combat, PokeRider for riding, and KopperLib for supported model-bone attachments. Availability depends on Minecraft version and loader.

The mod includes battle/riding checks, supported claim integrations and configurable block-edit limits. In Cobblemon 1.8.3, native Zangoose–Seviper rivalry takes priority when enabled.

Requirements

Minecraft Loader Cobblemon Java
1.20.1 Forge / Fabric 1.5.2 17
1.21.1 NeoForge / Fabric 1.7+ 21

Install the matching file on server and clients, together with Cobblemon’s required dependencies. Fabric also requires Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin. Keep versions aligned; check each file’s dependencies and changelog.
