Description
Build bigger. Grind smarter. Cheese the game.
Compressed is a late-game progression mod (in late-stage development) for Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge) (maybe fabric?) that, if you’ve ever dreamed of tools and armor that allow you to cheese through devil-modded boss fights, but still want a journey with real steps, costs, and choices, is perfectly designed for you.
At the heart of Compressed is a new crafting flow that lets you upgrade familiar equipment into something far beyond netherite. You’ll discover rare components out in the world (or grind them yourself), piece together an advanced workstation, and follow a multi-stage upgrade path of different tiers of materials.
Along the way, you’ll unlock:
-
An end-tier set of tools.
-
Full armor sets with overkill protection and overkill full-armor effects, if you ever craft them.
-
A mythic capstone for players who push all the way. It’s expensive, a little mysterious, but you'll find out what it is.
Design philosophy
-
Vanilla-guided. All artwork you see are created by myself and follow original, non-flamboyant vanilla that everybody has loved since 2009. Crafting is also vanilla-style. Nothing fancy.
-
Server-friendly. Features are tuned for performance and come with sensible config options so admins can match power to their economy.
How to get ingredients
To progress in Compressed, there are 3 options: 1. Making huge mob farms. There is a very small chance (~0.02% for the most precious one) that mobs drop them. 2. Making huge tunnel bores. 3. Exploring rare structures. You can just get huge amounts of diamond, netherite, iron, etc, and there is also a higher chance that it is generated in end-game structures.
Crafting that feels new (and familiar)
A dedicated workbench powers the upgrade chain with clean UI, JEI support, and intuitive recipes. You’ll combine vanilla gear with the new high-value components to push through tiers. It’s still Minecraft crafting—just… turned up a notch.
Modpack & SMP friendly
-
Configurable: Drop rates, costs, and a handful of toggles are exposed so pack authors can set the difficulty curve.
-
Plays well with others: Designed to coexist with common tech, magic, and world-protection mods.
-
JEI integration: All custom recipes are documented in-game.
Getting started
Install the mod, keep JEI handy, and play normally. As you progress, you’ll begin to notice hints in loot, advancements that point the way, and recipes that unlock at just the right moment. (If you install JEI, the progress will be obvious.)
Permissions
Feel free to include Compressed in public and private modpacks; just credit the project and link back to this page. Please don’t re-host the files.
Remark:
As of right now, this mod is still in development, and there are still some bugs and unfinished things that haven't been completed, but survival playability won't be affected.
