Description
English
Content Studio gives pack authors and server administrators in-game editors for recipes, loot tables, villager trades, and item tooltips. Searchable item selection, NBT editing, previews, and persistent rules help manage content directly inside a world.
Installation and access
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Minecraft | 1.20.1 |
| Forge | 47.4.2 or newer |
| KineticCore | 26.9.20 or newer; required |
| Recipe viewers | JEI 15.20+, EMI, and REI are optional |
| Item tooltips | Rendered by Content Studio on clients; no KubeJS dependency |
Install Content Studio and its required dependencies on the client and server for multiplayer editing. Press F6, the default KineticCore configuration-center key, and open the relevant Content Studio page. Editor data requests and changes are checked on the server and require permission level 2.
Recipe creation and removal
| Creation editor | Input layout |
|---|---|
| Crafting table | 3×3 shaped or shapeless ingredients |
| Furnace, blast furnace, smoker | One processing ingredient |
| Smithing table | Template, base, and addition |
| Stonecutter | One cutting ingredient |
- Choose ingredients from items or item tags, and set the output stack and count.
- Input NBT can be ignored, matched as a required subset, or matched exactly. Output NBT retention is a separate setting.
- Search by name, ID,
@modid, or#tag; inventory and equipment views help select existing stacks. - Browse saved additions in the preview, reopen a recipe for editing, or mark it for deletion.
- Unresolved items appear as barrier placeholders. Replace invalid slots before saving.
The removal manager targets individual recipe IDs or broader rules based on output item, mod ID, item tag, or recipe type. Selecting an output lists its recipes, making it possible to remove one acquisition path while retaining another.
A recipe affected by a broad rule must first be released from that rule before being managed individually. External viewer entries without a confirmed server recipe ID are preview-only. JEI actions can open all recipes for an item or the selected recipe when JEI is available.
Save timing: recipe additions and edits are written to the bundle first. Closing the complete recipe-editing session requests a server datapack reload to apply pending changes. The removal screen also offers a save/apply action. Wait for the server result before checking crafting behavior.
Entity, block, and container loot
Open the appropriate loot editor and select an entity, block, or container loot table. Changes affect subsequent loot generation for that table.
- Inspect and edit pools and entries, including item stacks and generated item NBT.
- Adjust pool roll ranges and luck-based bonus rolls.
- Edit entry weights, counts, chances, and supported drop conditions; entity-specific controls apply to entity death loot.
- Apply an entry or pool edit to the working table, then use Save on the main editor to persist it.
- Restore a table to its underlying resource definition by clearing the Content Studio override.
Container tools also provide global additions, global removal rules, and a table exclusion list. Removal rules match an item ID, the same item with any NBT, a required NBT subset, or exact NBT. Excluded tables receive neither global additions nor global removals.
The server validates saved table data and updates the affected runtime loot tables. These changes do not replace items already generated inside an opened chest.
Villager and wandering-trader trades
Manage trades by profession and level. Wandering traders have common and rare groups. A group can add trades, replace a level, replace all levels, or disable a level, with a configurable number of weighted offers to select.
Custom offers support two payment stacks and one result, including NBT. Controls include maximum/current uses, villager experience, player experience rewards, price multiplier, demand, special price, restocking, and selection weight. Default offers can be disabled or reweighted without rebuilding the profession.
Saving applies changes live to standard trade pools. Optional late-override mode reapplies rules after villager or wandering-trader trade refresh, helping control trades dynamically appended during that refresh.
The module also provides villager follow items and AI check/pathfinding intervals. The default interval is 100 ticks; setting it to 1 restores the original frequency. Trade-update protection preserves the minimal updates needed for trade level-up timers when AI is reduced.
Tooltip authoring
The tooltip editor saves rules to config/kineticcore/contentstudio_tooltips.json. Rules are keyed by item ID and append text or replace a specified line; line 0 is the item name. Conditions are always, Shift only, Alt only, or Shift+Alt. Text-color controls are included.
Content Studio renders the rules directly on clients. The server sends them when a player joins and after an editor save or /kt reload, so saved changes apply immediately to connected players. These rules do not contain an NBT matching condition. Existing KubeJS tooltip scripts are neither imported nor modified; remove an old tooltipadd.js yourself if KubeJS still runs it and duplicates the new tooltips.
Files and application behavior
Paths are relative to the game/server instance running the editor's server side.
| File | Contents and application |
|---|---|
config/kineticcore/datapack/data/contentstudio/recipe/recipe_bundle.json |
Added recipes and removal rules; applied through the recipe reload flow |
config/kineticcore/loot_overrides.json |
Table overrides, global container rules, and exclusions; editor saves update runtime tables |
config/kineticcore/villager.toml |
Trade rules, follow items, and villager settings; trade editor saves apply live |
config/kineticcore/contentstudio_tooltips.json |
Native tooltip rules; server synchronizes them to clients |
These paths belong to the instance, rather than separate editor files in each world. Include the relevant files when distributing a pack, and retain a copy before replacing a set of rules.
Practical workflow
- Enter a world with administrator permission and open the editor through F6.
- Start with one recipe, loot table, or profession and make a small change.
- Save using that editor's workflow; leave the complete recipe interface to apply pending recipe additions.
- Verify by crafting, generating fresh loot, or checking refreshed trades.
- For tooltips, save a rule and inspect that item's tooltip on a connected client.
Tooltip 编辑器把规则保存到 config/kineticcore/contentstudio_tooltips.json。
|---|---|
config/kineticcore/datapack/data/contentstudio/recipe/recipe_bundle.json |

config/kineticcore/villager.toml |
config/kineticcore/contentstudio_tooltips.json |
