Description
Create Dirt Beginning
Create Dirt Beginning is an addon mod for the well-known Minecraft mod Create. The goal of this mod is to make it possible to fully experience Create progression in a superflat world by adding new ways to obtain essential resources without relying on normal terrain generation.
By sanding down dirt, creating dirt casings, and progressing through recipes, you can obtain everything needed to start your Create journey from almost nothing.
I hope you enjoy playing with this mod!
To play this mod from version 4.0, Create 6.x is required. Compatibility with JEI has also been added, with version 15.20.0.113 being recommended.
Getting Started
With Version 4.0, Create Dirt Beginning has been expanded with a complete progression path designed around a dedicated world type.
When creating a new world, it is recommended to use the Dirt Beginning World preset. This preset provides a flat overworld filled almost entirely with dirt while keeping the player at a safe height to avoid constant slime spawns.
(Don’t be surprised about the experimental features warning!)
The world preset includes:
- Overworld: 1 block of bedrock; 127 blocks of dirt; 1 grass block
- Nether: 64 blocks of netherrack
- End: Normal generation (currently unreachable without another mod)
The Beginning: Dirt and Grass
The early game revolves around dirt and grass. By mining grass blocks, you can obtain seeds for every wood type, as well as cactus, bamboo, and sugar cane. These resources can then be crafted into their respective blocks/items using four seeds.
Dirt is the main resource of the beginning phase. Two Dirt Ingots can be crafted into Dirtpaper, which works similarly to Create’s Sandpaper but has 6 uses.
For a renewable alternative, Woodpaper can be crafted using one piece of paper surrounded by four planks. It also has 6 uses.
Later in progression, Advanced Sandpaper becomes available, providing 32 uses for more efficient processing. The recipe to craft it is the same as the Woodpaper just with iron ingots instead of planks and sandpaper instead of paper.
Creating Stone
The sanding progression is one of the most important parts of the mod.
By sanding dirt, you can obtain Cobblestone Pebbles. Four pebbles can be crafted into cobblestone, which can then be processed further:
- Cobblestone → Gravel → Sand → Quartz
This progression allows you to create important early-game resources, including the ability to produce andesite for Create recipes.
To make this process smoother, new milling recipe that increase pebble production and make stone gathering less expensive.
Early Iron Progression
Iron is obtained through Dirt Casings.
Dirt Casings are crafted similarly to Create Casings. Simply combine a Compressed Dirt Block (made from four dirt) with a Dirt Ingot to create a Dirt Casing.
Sanding Dirt Casings allows you to obtain iron nuggets and eventually progress into normal Create machinery.
Producing Lava
Stone Ingots are a key progression item and can be used in a basin above a heated Blaze Burner to create lava.
To obtain a Blaze Burner, a new crafting recipe has been added. The Create Empty Blaze Burner can be upgraded by surrounding with 4 blaze rods.
Blaze rods can be created by compressing blaze powder, which itself can be obtained by milling or crushing Stone Ingots.
With a stable lava supply, you can continue into the normal Create progression.
Late Game Progression
To make the late game possible, several additional resources and recipes have been added.
This includes:
- New blocks similar to Create’s Crimsite progression
- Recipes for various default Create blocks
- A recipe for Ancient Debris
- A recipe for the Netherite Upgrade Template
- Updated recipes for Kimberlite and Beryl
