Description

MineTogether - the social heart of modded Minecraft

MineTogether is the community layer for modded Minecraft - built so players can chat, share, and play together without the hassle of extra servers, launchers, or hidden data collection.

It is where players talk about the packs they love, help each other with recipes, share screenshots through BlockShot, and find new friends to build with.

No paywalls. No cosmetic shops. No engagement funnels. Just people enjoying Minecraft together.

Note for version 6.4.3 and newer

As of version 6.4.3, MineTogether has been split into three smaller mods to make updates faster and let pack makers and players include only what they need:

- MineTogether Community - chat, friends list, and secure proxied co-op.

- MineTogether Server List - discover multiplayer servers and connect to new communities.

- MineTogether Partners - tools for CreeperHost partners to include optional in-pack server ordering and referral support.

You only need MineTogether Community for the social features described below.
Install the other MineTogether modules if you want multiplayer server discoverability or partner integration.

Why the in-game chat matters

When you are deep in a modpack, it is nice to have company.
MineTogether chat is not just a feature - it is a space where the community comes alive.

- Ask and answer questions - stuck on a mod? Someone has probably been there already.

- Share and show off - pair it with BlockShot (a separate mod in the MineTogether ecosystem) to post builds, progress and screenshots directly to chat.

- Meet like-minded players - we do not show what pack someone is using, but if you see a purple name, they are playing the same pack as you.

- Discover new experiences - players constantly talk about what they are playing and what they have enjoyed, helping new packs get discovered naturally.

"a nice community that can be extremely helpful when you're comfused about something" - FlitsyTheNardo#E9E71

"multiplayer without any of the downsides of having to deal with another physical player!" - devnullchunkdata#9EFD6

"great interaction with the Moderators and tons of dad jokes" - Chaotic#B9299

Why pack creators include it

Getting visibility is harder than ever.
CurseForge is huge, and it is easy for even a great pack to vanish into the noise.

MineTogether helps bring your players - and your pack - into a living conversation.
Every player who uses your pack becomes part of an active, friendly network of thousands of others. They chat, help, share and, most importantly, keep playing.

Adding MineTogether gives you:

- Organic discoverability - your community talks about what they play, helping your pack get seen naturally.

- Less support overhead - players ask each other before opening tickets.

- Better player retention - people stay longer when there is a social element.

- Optional monetisation - enable the (off-by-default) banner in the menu to support your work through partner sales.

- Zero risk - the mod is optional on both client and server, so you can add or remove it safely.

Core features (from 1.12.2 and newer)

- Global and group chat
- Friends lists and direct messages
- Secure invites and "click-to-join" multiplayer
- MineTogether Connect for co-op play via outbound proxy tunnels
- Optional server list and private minigames
- World pre-generation helper (consistent command across versions and modloaders)
- Screenshot integration through BlockShot (separate mod)
- Fully open-source client (GPL-3) on GitHub

Versions before 1.12.2 offer limited features. 1.12.2 is in extended support, with newer Minecraft versions receiving active development first.

Privacy and openness

We believe communication tools should respect players, not monitor them.
The MineTogether client is open-source under GPL-3, so anyone can see exactly what is sent and received.
No telemetry. No data mining. Just anonymised UUIDs and optional email login if you choose to create an account.

The server side stays closed for now to prevent abuse and keep the network stable, but its purpose and behaviour are fully documented, with minimal, transparent data handling.

We are proud to be part of an ecosystem built on trust and openness, not black boxes and hidden metrics.

Why outbound proxy is safer

Most systems that offer quick multiplayer connections rely on port forwarding, peer-to-peer, or NAT punch-through to connect players.
These methods expose parts of your home network directly to the internet, leaving your IP address visible and open to abuse.

MineTogether Connect avoids this completely. It uses a secure outbound proxy tunnel to link players through CreeperHost’s network.
Your game connects out to us first, and the proxy handles the rest - your real IP address is never shared with other players.

This design also gives you built-in benefits:

- DDoS resistance - attacks hit the proxy, not your internet connection.
- Better privacy - nobody outside the connection can see your real address.
- Simpler setup - no router changes, no open ports, and it works even behind CGNAT.
- Consistent connection quality - proxies restart daily for stability and are monitored to ensure smooth gameplay.

Outbound proxy tunnelling is not just easier, it is safer - and it is one of the biggest reasons players choose MineTogether Connect over traditional peer-to-peer systems.

Dependencies

MineTogether requires PolyLib.
PolyLib provides the GUI, and shared framework that power the client.
Most launchers will install it automatically.

MineTogether is a platform that also contains a multiplayer enhancement mod.

This mod provides features such as;
Friends lists
Global chat
Group chat
Direct messages
Server list
World pre-generation
Private minigames
Server invites

Other parts of the platform provide cloud saves and oAuth services.

You do not need any CreeperHost services to use this, nor do you need to be a CreeperHost partner (although, it does help as it allows you to monetise your modpack via us)
