Crime And The Punishment
No reviews yet
"Crime and Punishment" adds a moral Guilt system. Killing innocents grants a heavy burden: "Chains of the Honorless". Golems attack and villagers hike prices. Seek redemption via time, raids, or Cleric trades.

Description
Crime and Punishment: The Eternal Debt
Crime and Punishment is an atmospheric gameplay overhaul that transforms Minecraft into a world of tangible moral consequences. It replaces abstract "karma" with a deep, mechanical Guilt System—a soulbound burden that forces players to face the physical, social, and psychological costs of senseless violence.
### The Sin System: A Heavy Burden
Senseless violence no longer goes unnoticed by the world. Taking the life of a Villager, a tamed pet, or a passive baby animal triggers an immediate state of Guilt.
-
The Haunting: Upon committing a crime, the player is struck with temporary Darkness and Nausea while a chilling monologue appears in the action bar to mark your transition.
-
The Timer: Guilt is persistent, lasting for 72,000 ticks (one full hour of real-time play) and remains active even after death. You cannot die your way out of your actions.
-
Acoustic Shift: When a crime is committed, global music is silenced to emphasize the gravity of the player's burden.
### Chains of the Honorless
The physical manifestation of your sin, these EPIC-rarity chains are automatically added to your inventory upon committing a crime.
-
Soulbound Burden: These fire-resistant chains are bound to your soul and cannot be easily discarded.
-
The Anti-Exploit Check: If you attempt to "outsmart" your guilt by filling your inventory to prevent the chains from spawning, the world strikes you with permanent Darkness and the message "YOU CAN'T OUTSMART YOUR GUILT" until a slot is opened to accept the weight.
-
Crippling Debuffs: While held or equipped, the chains significantly reduce your Attack Damage, Attack Speed, and Max Health. The sheer weight makes it nearly impossible to mine or harvest blocks effectively.
### The Social Exile
The world reacts to your "Honorless" status in real-time, making safety a luxury and survival expensive.
-
The Iron Judge: Naturally spawned Iron Golems can "sense" the chains. Unless you possess the Bad Omen effect, they will attack you on sight.
-
Mercy in War: If you approach a Golem while carrying the chains but also possessing a Bad Omen, the Golem will stand down, acknowledging that you are there to protect the village from a raid.
-
The Guilt Tax: Villagers recognize your burden and will significantly inflate their prices. Expect to pay a heavy premium—at least 5 extra emeralds per trade—for all goods.
-
The Hunter: Beware of the red-named "gun for hire". This mercenary targets those who carry high Sin or attempt to hide within protected Sanctuaries.
### The Path to Redemption
Redemption is a journey of sacrifice, requiring you to interact with the Church of the Golden Apple. There are four ways to lift the weight of the chains:
-
The Divine Ledger (The Pulpit): Utilize the new Pulpit workstation to negotiate your debt. By placing Gold Ingots or Golden Apples within the ledger while a Priest is nearby, you can manually reduce your guilt ticks.
-
The Cleric’s Indulgence: Visit a Village Cleric. These spiritual leaders offer a "cleansing" trade—exchanging 30 Gold Ingots to reduce your guilt by 2,000 ticks per transaction.
-
The Hero’s Path: Successfully defend a village and win a Raid. Obtaining the Hero of the Village effect immediately cleanses your soul and removes the chains.
-
The Path of Patience: Carry the burden for the full 72,000 ticks until the guilt naturally fades and you unlock a unique Challenge Advancement.
