About this mod
This mod is designed as an add-on to Cracker's Wither Storm Mod, and partially inspired by the V-Sides Soundtrack mod. This mod allows you to define custom music to play during certain events of the Wither Storm using a Youtube URL. The mod is also fully client-side, meaning you can use the mod without it being installed on the server (also means no lag)!
You may use this mod in your modpack.
Below is an example of the Now Playing overlay, which will display the song title and progress, with support for scrolling text to view the full title.

This mod is in early development, expect many changes. FFMPEG IS REQUIRED AND NOT BUNDLED WITH THE MOD - Place the contents of an FFmpeg build's /bin folder into the .minecraft/witherstormmusic/bin folder.
Main Features
- Robust audio conversion & playback - preserves audio quality
- Music will slowly fade when you leave the Wither Storm's range (configurable)
- When leaving the range of the Wither Storm, the timestamp of the song's playback is saved, and resumes seamlessly when entering the range of the Wither Storm again
- Distance-based music triggers for realistic ambiance
- Highly configurable - Overlay, toasts, individual track volume, manual file checking etc. can be toggled and changed
- Configuration powered by Cloth Config
- Built-in setup wizard assists with configuration
List of currently configurable events
- Phase 1-3
- Phase 4-5
- Formidibomb (inventory, placed, and ignited)
- Withered Symbiont
- Phase 6-7
- Bowels ambient theme
- Command block fight (Revival and fake death are planned.)
All of the above have configurable volume and distance for each event.
Specific information
The mod is pre-bundled with YT-DLP, hence 50MB+ filesize. YT-DLP is necessary for music to be downloaded via the URL, aswell as metadata retrieval.
For now, only Youtube URLs are supported. To define a URL for the mod to use, go to the config and navigate to the desired event which is under a category (see gallery). The mod also contains a setup wizard (which can be accessed through a popup shown when running the mod for the first time), explaining the mod's function, FFmpeg's installation process (if missing) and setting up URLs for each phase.
URL changes may require a full restart of Minecraft, however they typically queue for download when in proximity to the Wither Storm.
Known issues:
- Some songs on Youtube may fail to provide metadata or lack the required metadata, and this causes the Now Playing Overlay to fail to display.
- Most PCs experience ~5 second lag spikes when audio playback begins - be careful when initiating the command block fight or you may not be able to prevent yourself from falling out of the bowels.
