About

Description

Black silhouette of a tall spire on a gradiented background that is blue at the top, purple at the middle, and orange at the bottom; four symbols connected in a constellation are overlaid - from bottom to top they are a purple hammer, a yellow crescent moon, a green mushroom, and a cold white star.

Halcyon

To beget change, one must consider first the nature of its recipient. This is easily done: evidence of a scarred past is all around, clinging to the world like detritus in water that needs but a single motion to stir to the surface. A tablet rests high in snow-capped dark cradled by a feathered hand. The past is opening itself to you. It just takes one step, one fleeting motion to behold. Will you do it?

The road onto which you will embark stretches high and low, twisting through other realms alien and familiar. The ascent will be vast, but so too will be its spoils. The further you go, the more you must bear in mind your goal. To beget change, one must ultimately embody its agent.

This is Halcyon, a story of reconciliation told through your discoveries and experiments surrounding once-forgotten magitech machinery and its architects. Through artifice, grow familiar with the ebbs and flows of the Tides. Unearth a lost history, and realize it was not lost at all. Explore, construct, make contact, learn. And at the end of all things, when the lights in the sky are dim and clouded in mist and the tablet in your hands reflects that which you always knew to be real, you will make your role clear, and bear witness to your endeavor's conclusion.

Reconcile.

Alpha Notice

Halcyon is in alpha. What that means is that it is not a complete experience: you can currently play through approximately a quarter of planned progression. That can take but a few hours if one knows what they're doing, certainly more if not. Improvements and minor additions to existing content are worked on in tandem with the next stages of progression, which will of course extend the breadth and depth of the mod further.

Mod Integration

  • Applied Energistics 2:
    • Process AE2's materials with Tide-driven machinery
  • EMI:
    • Full recipe display support, with thematic visuals and progression-based recipe hiding
  • Malum:
    • Ability to locate a certain… thing with the Resonance Receptor
  • Mekanism:
    • A new set of Nodes and Wires for transferring Chemicals
  • Opalescence:
    • Opal variants of Traversite Road blocks
  • Oritech:
    • Recipes to make Oritech alloys in the Synthesis Chamber for half the cost
  • Pastel:
    • New ways to process the materials of your Artistry
    • Some Pastel items can serve as powerful sources of Tidal Energy
    • More interop will be added as both mods flourish further!
  • Primal Magick:
    • Ability to locate the Shrines a mage requires with the Resonance Receptor
  • Refined Storage:
    • The Tides beget more efficient methods to create your base RS components
  • Tempad:
    • While there is no Tempad integration in Halcyon itself, we recommend the addon Tides of Time, made by a close friend of the project. It fully subsumes Tempad into Halcyon's progression, including a new structure and changed recipes.

Screenshot of a series of high-tech machines from Mekanism placed on dark purple bricks, connected via colorful wires.

Screenshot of the interior of a Nature Outpost structure; it is built from a purple rock and is visibly overgrown, with leaves and moss everywhere.

Screenshot of a selection of fanciful copper machinery placed in a dark room built from variants of polished obsidian blocks; the machines are interconnected with glowing wires.
