Description
DEADDROP
DeadDrop is a fully configurable, server-side Forge mod that adds competitive military airdrops to DeceasedCraft and other post-apocalyptic Minecraft servers.
Supply crates land in distant locations and announce their coordinates to everyone online. The crate has no designated owner, the identity of the closest player remains hidden, and the first survivor to reach the supplies can loot them.
DeadDrop only needs to be installed on the server. Players do not need to install it on their clients.
GLOBAL AIRDROP RACES
DeadDrop considers the locations of every eligible, non-spectator player in the Overworld when searching for an airdrop location.
Each landing attempt randomly uses one of the online players as its search origin. The resulting location is then checked against every eligible player before it can be accepted. This distributes airdrops across servers where players may be thousands of blocks apart while keeping every race unpredictable.
By default, an airdrop must:
• Land at least 1,000 blocks from every eligible player
• Be within 5,000 blocks of the nearest player
• Land on a safe, solid surface
• Avoid oceans and configured blacklisted biomes
• Land inside a Lost Cities city when city information is available
• Remain inside the world border
When a crate lands, its exact coordinates are announced globally. The announcement never reveals the name of the closest player.
The crate remains available for a configurable 20-minute race window. There is no ownership lock—the first survivor to reach the crate can open and loot it.
DISTANCE-BASED REWARDS
The reward multiplier is calculated using the distance between the crate and the actual nearest player when the landing location is selected.
Default reward tiers:
• 1,000–2,499 blocks: normal loot
• 2,500–3,999 blocks: 1.5x loot
• 4,000–5,000 blocks: 2x loot
Nearby crates are easier to reach, while distant crates provide greater rewards for the additional travel and danger.
Distance bonuses increase the quantities produced by successful loot categories. They do not directly increase each category’s chance of appearing.
MILITARY SUPPLY CRATES
DeadDrop uses Apocalypse Now Military Storage crates with up to 45 inventory slots.
Possible rewards include:
• TaCZ firearms discovered from installed gun packs
• Matching firearm ammunition
• Scopes, suppressors, magazines, grips, stocks, and other attachments
• Military rations
• Basic and advanced medical supplies
• Grenades and explosives
• Army equipment
• Military armor
• Gas masks
• Repair materials
• Survival equipment
• Building supplies
• Practical Curios and trinkets
• Golden apples
• Enchanted golden apples
• Rare high-tier weapon jackpots
• Juggernaut armor
• A rare DeceasedCraft .50 BMG bullet-casing mold
• Additional configurable bonus loot
Loot chances, quantities, rarity weights, item IDs, and reward multipliers can all be configured.
GUN AND AMMUNITION RARITY
DeadDrop discovers compatible TaCZ weapons, ammunition, and attachments from content loaded on the server.
Guns can be separated into the following rarity tiers:
• Common
• Uncommon
• Rare
• Legendary
Ammunition can be separated into:
• Common
• Uncommon
• Rare
• Exotic
Heavy ammunition, rockets, and other powerful ammunition types can be assigned to restricted rarity tiers with smaller quantities.
When possible, the first ammunition reward matches the first firearm placed in the crate. DeadDrop also avoids duplicate weapon and ammunition selections within the same crate.
Custom rarity overrides can be managed through the configuration file or in-game commands.
MEDICAL SUPPLIES
Medical loot is divided into two independent categories.
Default medical settings:
• Basic medical supplies: 50% chance with quantities of 10–15
• Advanced medical supplies: 20% chance with quantities of 6–12
• Maximum of five actual crate slots shared between all medical categories
This provides useful medical caches without allowing medical items to consume the entire military crate.
Medical chances, item pools, quantities, weights, and the slot limit are configurable.
JUGGERNAUT ARMOR
Juggernaut armor is intentionally restricted to the most challenging airdrops.
Default behavior:
• The nearest player must be at least 4,000 blocks away
• The Juggernaut roll has a 5% chance
• A successful roll awards exactly one random armor piece
• Distance multipliers do not increase the number of pieces
• Weekend multipliers do not increase the number of pieces
The chance, distance requirement, allowed armor pieces, quantity, and multiplier protection can all be changed.
AUTOMATIC WEEKEND EVENTS
DeadDrop includes an optional automatic event that runs on Saturday and Sunday.
During the default weekend event:
• Successful general loot categories receive a 2x quantity multiplier
• Automatic airdrops arrive twice as frequently
• Weekend warnings and arrival announcements are displayed
• Distance rewards stack with the weekend multiplier
A far-distance crate can therefore receive up to a combined 4x general loot multiplier.
Juggernaut armor, medical slot limits, and the .50 BMG casing mold retain their configured safety limits.
The event can be enabled, disabled, or forced active for testing. The time zone, multiplier, announcements, and faster-drop behavior are configurable.
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND EFFECTS
DeadDrop uses server-controlled Minecraft effects to make airdrops visible and exciting.
Features include:
• Incoming-aircraft warnings
• Global landing announcements
• Exact crate coordinates
• Anonymous announcements with no nearby player names
• Distance reward information
• Weekend reward information
• Floating crate labels
• Smoke and particle markers
• Arrival sounds
• Crate-expiration announcements
• DeadDrop Radio messages for failed shipments
No client-side assets or custom networking are required.
FAILED LANDING PROTECTION
Terrain generation, biome restrictions, city requirements, or player positions can sometimes prevent DeadDrop from finding a suitable landing zone.
Two configurable failure modes are available:
• Retry: The aircraft circles and searches again after a configurable delay
• Destroyed: DeadDrop Radio announces that the shipment was destroyed during landing, and the normal schedule resumes
The default behavior retries every 60 seconds until a valid landing location is found.
PERSISTENT AND PROTECTED CRATES
DeadDrop saves active airdrops and the automatic schedule with the world.
The mod also includes:
• Automatic crate expiration
• Protection against breaking non-empty supply crates
• Persistent timers across server restarts
• Protected floating labels
• Prevention of items becoming trapped in label armor stands
• Backup and recovery for affected empty crate inventories
• Lootr compatibility handling
• Apocalypse Now patch compatibility
• Administrative crate listing and removal commands
FULLY CONFIGURABLE IN-GAME
Every DeadDrop configuration value can be managed through operator commands while the server is running.
The in-game editor automatically discovers all available configuration paths. It supports numbers, booleans, text values, item pools, biome lists, loot entries, and rarity overrides.
Main configuration commands:
• /deaddrop config show — Display important live settings
• /deaddrop config help — Display configuration help and shortcuts
• /deaddrop config paths [page] — List every editable configuration path
• /deaddrop config get <path> — Show the current and default values
• /deaddrop config set <path> <value> — Validate, apply, and save any setting
• /deaddrop config reset <path> — Restore one setting to its default
• /deaddrop config add <path> <entry> — Add a validated list entry
• /deaddrop config remove <path> <entry> — Remove a list entry
Example commands:
• /deaddrop config interval 45
• /deaddrop config lifetime 20
• /deaddrop config basicmedicalchance 50
• /deaddrop config juggernautchance 5
• /deaddrop config weekendforced true
• /deaddrop config set schedule.intervalMinutes 45
• /deaddrop config get supplies.juggernautItems
• /deaddrop config add drop.blacklistedBiomes minecraft
Changes are validated and saved immediately to config/deceased_airdrops.toml.
Schedule-related changes safely restart the automatic timer so the new timing takes effect.
Advanced item pools and rarity lists can be edited through the complete path-based system. Common settings also have shorter, easier commands.
OPERATOR COMMANDS
All DeadDrop commands require operator permission level 2.
• /deaddrop — Display the command menu
• /deaddrop help — Display command help
• /deaddrop summon — Create an anonymous global-race airdrop
• /deaddrop summon <player> — Create an operator-targeted airdrop
• /deaddrop summonat <x> <z> — Create an airdrop near specific coordinates
• /deaddrop status — Show the timer, active crates, and spawning mode
• /deaddrop validate — Validate configured blocks and loot integrations
• /deaddrop event — Show the weekend-event status
• /deaddrop list — List active airdrop coordinates
• /deaddrop reset — Restart the automatic airdrop timer
• /deaddrop clear — Remove all active airdrops
• /deaddrop config — Access the configuration system
The previous /airdrop command remains available as a complete compatibility alias.
REQUIREMENTS
• Minecraft 1.20.1
• Forge 47.4.0 or newer in the Forge 47 series
• Java 17
• Apocalypse Now – Post Apocalyptic Arsenal 3.0.4 or newer
• TaCZ – Timeless and Classics Zero Guns 1.1.6 or newer
The Lost Cities is optional but strongly recommended for city-based airdrop locations.
If city information is unavailable, DeadDrop can use its configurable safe-location fallback.
INSTALLATION
-
Stop the Minecraft server.
-
Install Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1.
-
Install Apocalypse Now and TaCZ.
-

SERVER-SIDE DESIGN
DeadDrop adds no custom blocks, items, client screens, client assets, or network channels.
It uses blocks, inventories, sounds, particles, announcements, and entities already available through Minecraft and the required mods.
Server owners install DeadDrop once, and players can join without modifying their client installation.
