Description

DeepCatch

Vanilla fishing is quiet - cast, wait, reel in a cod. DeepCatch turns it into a full progression built to slot into an RPG world, a fantasy roleplay server, or any world with a real economy.

Catch fish that belong to their waters. Prepare them by hand. Cook, sell, or infuse your gear with their power. Upgrade your rod. And when you're ready, hunt what sleeps in the deep.

Features

  • 11 biome fish - rivers, swamps, warm and cold oceans, and the deep. Rarer fish live in harder waters, and every catch has a quality.
  • Cutting board - descale and fillet by hand for the best cuts. Five knives to craft.
  • Kitchen - cook fillets or roll sushi (each fish grants a different buff). Grow your own rice and avocado.
  • Economy-ready - sell your haul at the Fish Market, or summon a fishmonger with a Conch to trade for supplies.
  • Infusion - work fish scales into your gear to carry the sea's power.
  • 4 rod tiers - Reinforced → Angler's → Master → Abyssal, each enchanted and better than the last.
  • Trophies - mount your best catches; they radiate their buff to everyone nearby.
  • The Ancient Hunt - brave the deep and battle the Leviathan, with its own boss music.
  • In-game guidebook - the Deep Catch Almanac explains every system and tells you where each fish lives.

Perfect for

RPG and adventure worlds, roleplay and fantasy servers with an economy, or anyone who thinks vanilla fishing deserves more.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.21.1 + NeoForge (21.1.x)
  • Patchouli (required, It should auto install with this mod)

Recommended: I also suggest grabbing Configured (by MrCrayfish) - it gives you an easy in-game menu for adjusting mod settings, so any DeepCatch config options are simple to tweak without having to go in and manually edit files.

Modpacks: Feel free to include DeepCatch in any modpack, public or private - no need to ask. A credit link back to this page is appreciated but not required.

A note from the dev

Hi, I'm a solo developer and DeepCatch is my first publically released mod. I always felt fishing deserved to be more than an afk chore, and I wanted something at home in an RPG or roleplay world with a real economy.

Deep Catch was inspired by the game Scale the Depths - its hands-on take on the user fishing experience is what sparked the idea. This is my own original take on that feeling, built for Minecraft.

It's a first release, and more content and improvements will come in future updates. Feedback shapes where it goes, so please leave a comment.

A couple of honest asks:

  • Want a Forge or 1.20.1 port? Let me know - it's a real undertaking, but if there's demand I'll look into it.
  • Advice from experienced modders is hugely appreciated - I'm still learning, and I'd love to make this better.

Thanks for trying my first mod. I hope it makes your waters a little deeper!
