An origins datapack that adds the Deepspawn, a sculk-themed origin that thrives on trapping, planning, and fighting on their home turf.
Centers around fantasy elements such as spells, rituals, and magical energies, often involving personal empowerment and magical automation.
Includes a large focus on traversing worlds with enhanced world generation, structures, dungeons, and more for players to find unique loot.

About
Description
Whether you died and were revived by the sculk or are merely a construct of its will, you are innately attuned to the Deep Dark.
The Deepspawn are a sculk-inspired origin that gain buffs in their home turf, but are left exposed if they venture out without a plan.
Origins or Origins (Forge) is needed to use this datapack.
Impact: HIGH
Powers
Powers:
🟢 Positive:
- Deep Dark Inhabitant: You spawn in the closest Ancient City to [0,0].
- Quiet: Noises you make can't be detected by sculk sensors or wardens.
- Meld: You can phase into sculk-family blocks and climb sculk veins. While within the sculk, you gain Strength and Speed over time.
- Fire Immunity: You are immune to all types of fire damage and can't be set on fire.
- Attuned Hearing: While crouched, you can see entities within 12 blocks of you through walls. While standing on or inside of sculk, this range is doubled to 24 blocks. Players sneaking, on wool, or on carpets cannot be tracked.
- Echo Charge: By using an echo shard on a sculk shrieker, you can change whether it can spawn wardens or not.
- Subdivide (active ability): You can consume 10 levels and some of your vitality to create a sculk catalyst.
- Colonize (active ability; 2.0 onwards): You can cause any sculk catalyst you're standing on to spread sculk at the cost of experience. You need a seed block of sculk or sculk veins to start the process. Tooltip is currently broken on 1.20, I'll probably fix it with 2.1. You need to have at least 5 levels to spread sculk!
🟡 Neutral:
- Soul Eater: You can't eat. Instead, experience orbs refill your hunger.
🔴 Negative:
- Reincorporate: You get Regeneration II and Resistance I when within 8 blocks of a sculk catalyst. Outside of potions, this is your only way to regenerate HP.
- Depthborn: You can see slightly better in the dark, however the sun (or bright light in 2.0 onward) overwhelms your senses, leaving you weakened and unable to see very far in it's presence. (I recommend turning off darkness pulsing in accessibility settings.)
Powers are rated on how positively/negatively they effect gameplay, not how positive or negative the ability looks at first glance. For example, ancient city respawn is often listed in the neutral or negative category, but it actually provides a huge early game headstart for this origin especially, so it's considered a positive.

Special thanks to the Sculkling, Sculked Magpie, and Sculk Mole origins, as they were my main inspiration for making my own sculk origin.
As spawning in an ancient city without being able to trigger sculk shriekers kind of trivializes the early game, you might want to be careful including this origin in more vanilla servers. Feel free to include this mod in any of your modpacks, you don't have to ask!
