Description
Dirty Clothes
Armor and clothing you wear gradually gets dirty from everyday wear — walking, mining, and fighting — and loses protection the dirtier it gets, until you wash it clean.
How it works
- Every armor piece (vanilla or modded) tracks a hidden Dirtiness value (0–100%), stored on the item itself.
- Dirt builds up from:
- Walking / sprinting (boots, leggings)
- Breaking blocks (boots, leggings)
- Dealing or taking melee damage (chestplate, helmet)
- Rain slowly rinses armor while exposed to the sky. Wading or swimming through natural water (rivers, lakes, oceans) rinses it off faster, for free.
- Once a piece passes 50% dirty, its Armor and Armor Toughness start dropping — up to −30% / −50% at 100% filthy.
- At 80%+ dirtiness on any piece, you'll build hunger exhaustion faster and occasionally puff dust particles.
- Hover a dirty armor piece to see its dirtiness tier and percentage, in English or Thai depending on game language.
Washing
- Right-click a water cauldron while holding a dirty armor piece to scrub some dirt off. Washing never drains the cauldron's water, so it can be reused freely.
- Craft Soap (1 Bone Meal + 2 Cactus → 4 Soap) and right-click a water cauldron while wearing dirty armor to clean everything you're wearing at once, consuming 1 Soap.
- Once a piece is fully clean, a cauldron click falls through to vanilla as normal, so dye can still be stripped from leather armor intentionally.
