DiscForge Runtime

DiscForge Runtime is the required runtime mod for DiscForge-generated album mods. It provides the shared in-game systems that allow custom albums and music discs created through DiscForge to work in Minecraft.

What it adds

  • Disc Forger: an in-game machine used to forge custom music discs.
  • Blank Discs: the base item used when creating a generated music disc.
  • Styluses: Stick, Copper, Golden, Iron, Diamond, and Netherite variants with different durability levels.
  • Album discovery: automatically detects DiscForge-generated album data supplied by installed album mods.
  • Album and song selection: select an available album and song directly through the Disc Forger interface.
  • Custom disc forging: combines the required materials and selected album/song to create the corresponding generated disc.
  • Generated album support: provides the shared runtime systems required by albums generated through the DiscForge website.

How it works

DiscForge separates the reusable in-game systems from individual generated albums.

The DiscForge Runtime provides the Disc Forger, blank discs, styluses, album loading, and forging systems. Individual DiscForge-generated album mods provide their own album information, songs, artwork, and custom disc items.

Install the Runtime alongside any DiscForge-generated album mods you want to use.

Basic workflow

  1. Install DiscForge Runtime.
  2. Install a DiscForge-generated album mod.
  3. Launch Minecraft with NeoForge 1.21.1.
  4. Obtain a Blank Disc and a Stylus.
  5. Use the Disc Forger to select an available album and song.
  6. Start the forging process.
  7. Collect and use the generated music disc in-game.

The website lets you create an album from your own artwork and music, configure its songs, generate the disc artwork, save your project, and generate a Minecraft mod containing your album.

The generated album mod works together with DiscForge Runtime to provide the in-game forging experience.
