DNF Enhance
Overview
DNF Enhance adds a gear enhancement system to Minecraft, inspired by Dungeon & Fighter. Weapons, tools and armor can be enhanced step by step at the Enhancement Furnace, from +1 up to a default maximum of +15. Success rates, failure penalties, material costs and the attribute growth curve are defined in one global config file, and the process can be automated with redstone and hoppers.
Watch out for the Kai'li family: these troublemaking pigs show up while you enhance, interfere with your attempts, and — once defeated — hand you materials and enhancement tickets. Tickets let you skip the grind and push an item straight to +10 ~ +15.
What Can Be Enhanced
- Melee weapons and tools — attack damage is raised
- Armor — armor value, armor toughness and knockback resistance are raised
- Bows and crossbows — arrow damage is raised
Every level adds a percentage of the item's base value, following a configurable growth curve. The default curve goes from +1 = 2% to +15 = 100%, which doubles the base values at the maximum level. For bows and crossbows, the tooltip shows the current arrow damage bonus directly.
🔥 The Enhancement Furnace
Right-click the furnace to open its interface, which holds three slots and an information panel:
- Left slot — Furnace Carbon or Advanced Furnace Carbon (material)
- Middle slot — the item to be enhanced
- Right slot — Equipment Protection Stone (optional)
The panel shows the current and next level, the success rate, the carbon cost, the failure penalty, whether a protection stone is loaded, and the redstone state.
Enhancement is done one level at a time: each action consumes the required carbon and rolls the dice once. While the furnace is working it lights up — the front texture switches to burning, the block emits light, and smoke, flame and enchantment particles appear around it. A manual attempt keeps it lit for about two seconds; sounds and particles give immediate feedback on success and failure.
Hopper Integration
- Top face — inserts items to be enhanced. Insert only; items cannot be extracted from the top.
- Left side (viewed from the front) — accepts Furnace Carbon and Advanced Furnace Carbon.
- Right side (viewed from the front) — accepts Equipment Protection Stones.
- Bottom face — output. The bottom hopper only extracts an item after auto-enhancement has reached its target level. Manually enhanced items and items still being processed are never pulled out.
Enhancement Rules (Default Values)
| Target level | Success rate | On failure | Carbon cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| +1 – +3 | 100% | none | 1 – 3 |
| +4 – +7 | 90% – 70% | level –1 | 4 – 7 |
| +8 – +10 | 60% – 40% | level –3 | 8 – 10 |
| +11 – +13 | 30% – 20% | item destroyed | 12 – 16 |
| +14 – +15 | 15% / 10% | item destroyed | 18 / 20 |
- Failures from +4 to +10 only lower the level; from +11 onward an unprotected failure destroys the item.
- An Equipment Protection Stone prevents destruction: when a destroying failure occurs with a stone loaded, the item and its level are kept and one stone is consumed (the consumption can be disabled in the config).
- Using Advanced Furnace Carbon as the material adds 10% success to that attempt.
- While the enhancer is under the Luck effect — for example a luck potion from another mod or
/effect— every attempt gains 10% success. Manual enhancement checks the player who performed the action; auto-enhancement checks the player who started it, as long as they are online. - The maximum level equals the length of the configuration lists (15 by default). Extending the lists raises the cap.
🎫 Enhancement Tickets
Six tickets, one for each level from +10 to +15. They cannot be crafted from materials — they only drop from the Darkened Kai'li and the Enhance Master. Hold the item you want to enhance in one hand and a ticket in the other, then use the ticket:
- It consumes the ticket and tries to enhance your equipment straight to the ticket's level in one go (for example from +7 to +13).
- The success rate is configurable per ticket tier and defaults to 100%.
- On a failed attempt the ticket is consumed and the equipment keeps its level — no downgrade, no destruction, no protection stone needed.
- If the equipment is already at or above the ticket's level, the ticket is not consumed.
- Ticket names use the same "+N" colouring and animation as enhanced equipment (+10 orange, +11 – +13 pulsing red, +14 – +15 flowing rainbow).
Turning low tickets into high ones: 9 tickets of the same tier can be combined into 1 ticket of the next tier (+10 → +11 → … → +14 → +15). This is the only ticket recipe; use it to avoid piling up useless low-tier tickets.
Beware: the Kai'li aura also affects handheld tickets. Near a Darkened Kai'li or an Enhance Master, using a ticket always fails.
🐷 The Kai'li Family
While you enhance at the furnace, a Kai'li pig may appear to make trouble. There are three of them, and all of them are ordinary pigs with a custom name.
| Variant | Aura effect on nearby enhancement | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Kai'li | lowers the success rate | appears most often; drops materials when killed |
| Darkened Kai'li | enhancement always fails | full +10 iron armor (never drops), 50 HP; fights back when attacked |
| Enhance Master Kai'li | enhancement always fails, and a failure resets the level to +0 | neutral — never attacks first; full +10 diamond armor (never drops), 100 HP; the strongest fighter and the best loot |
Darkened Kai'li — attack it and it throws lit TNT at you and summons enhanced mobs (zombies or skeletons carrying enhanced weapons). It has no sonic attack.
Enhance Master Kai'li — a neutral boss-like pig. If you attack it, it responds with a warden sonic boom that knocks you back, then throws lit TNT at the spot you were knocked to, and then summons enhanced mobs. From that moment on it keeps fighting:
- it throws a lit TNT at nearby players every 5 seconds;
- anyone who comes within 2 blocks is hit by a sonic boom (10-second cooldown);
- once its summoned squad has been wiped out, it summons a fresh one after 10 seconds — so you cannot simply ignore the minions.
Rules that apply to all Kai'li:
- TNT thrown by a Kai'li never breaks blocks, and never hurts the Kai'li family itself.
- When a Darkened Kai'li or an Enhance Master appears, everyone in the dimension sees a chat warning — this also happens while the furnace is auto-enhancing, so you are warned even when you are not standing at the furnace.
- Each successful enhancement slightly raises the chance for a Kai'li to appear; the chance resets when one shows up. Only one Kai'li stays near a furnace at a time.
- Spawn chances, aura radius and aura penalty are all configurable.
- Only Kai'li summoned by the mod drop loot. A pig you name yourself only gets the aura effect.
- The aura also affects enhancement tickets used by hand.
Kai'li drops (default)
| Variant | Advanced Furnace Carbon | Equipment Protection Stones | Enhancement Tickets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kai'li | 2 – 5 | 1 – 2 | — |
| Darkened Kai'li | 4 – 32 | 8 – 16 | 3 (biased to +10 ~ +12) |
| Enhance Master | 32 – 64 | 20 – 30 | 5 (biased to +13 ~ +15) |
Looting adds extra carbon and protection stones. Ticket amounts and their tier distribution are configurable.
Enhanced Item Display
An enhanced item is named "+N item name". Only the "+N" prefix is colored and bold; the original name keeps its own color and formatting. The prefix color depends on the level:
| Level | Prefix color |
|---|---|
| +1 – +7 | white |
| +8 – +10 | orange |
| +11 – +13 | red |
| +14 – +15 | rainbow |
From +11 the prefix is animated inside the tooltip: +11 – +13 run a red highlight that travels along the text, +14 – +15 show a flowing rainbow. Outside tooltips (for example item names on the ground) the prefix keeps its static color. Enhanced items do not receive an enchantment glint and their rarity is not changed. Enhancement tickets use the same display style.
Renaming an enhanced item on an anvil keeps the prefix. The prefix is always rebuilt from the real level, so typing "+99" into the name cannot fake a higher level. The prefix row is rebuilt when the tooltip is rendered and does not conflict with similar prefix rows added by other mods.
Auto-Enhancement
Auto-enhancement performs one attempt per second until the item reaches the selected target level:
- It only runs while the furnace receives a redstone signal. Cutting the signal pauses the process; the target level and progress are kept, and it resumes by itself when power returns. The furnace fire goes out within about two seconds of a pause, which makes the paused state visible at a glance.
- If the next attempt would destroy the item and no protection stone is loaded, the process stops and a chat message is sent to the player who started it. The message is not broadcast to other players.
- Running out of carbon does not stop the process. The furnace waits and retries as soon as hoppers refill it.
- When the target level is reached, the item is handed over to the bottom hopper.
Mobs and Drops
- Hostile mobs that spawn naturally (spawner spawns excluded) have a 15% chance by default to spawn carrying enhanced gear: either a weapon or an armor piece with a level between +1 and +10. Lower levels are much more common. The item always drops when the mob dies, with its enhance level preserved.
- If a player kills a mob that was carrying enhanced gear, the mob has a 20% base chance to drop 1 – 3 Furnace Carbon. Every Looting level on the weapon adds 5%.
- The Kai'li family also drops materials and enhancement tickets — see the Kai'li section above.
Command
/dnfenhance enhance <0~99> — sets the enhance level of the held item to the given value (0 removes enhancement). Requires permission level 2 (operator in multiplayer, cheats enabled in singleplayer).
Recipes
Enhancement Furnace (shaped):
stone iron ingot stone
iron ingot anvil iron ingot
stone furnace stone
Furnace Carbon (shapeless): 4 coal + 2 copper ingots → 8 Furnace Carbon
Advanced Furnace Carbon (shaped): 1 gold ingot surrounded by 8 Furnace Carbon
Equipment Protection Stone (shapeless): 1 diamond + 2 gold ingots + 1 blaze powder
Enhancement Ticket upgrade (shapeless): 9 tickets of the same level → 1 ticket of the next level (works from +10 up to +14 → +15). Tickets themselves cannot be crafted; they only drop from Kai'li.
🔧 Configuration
All values are stored in the global file config/dnfenhance.toml, which is shared across worlds. The file is reloaded automatically when saved and can also be edited from the in-game config screen (Mods → DNF Enhance → Config). The options cover:
- the per-level success rates, failure penalties, carbon costs and growth curve;
- the Advanced Furnace Carbon and Luck bonuses;
- the chances for mobs to carry enhanced gear and to drop carbon;
- whether protection stones are consumed on use;
- the whole Kai'li family: spawn chances and per-success accumulation, aura radius and penalty, health, drop ranges, and the Enhance Master's combat behaviour (how often it throws TNT, its sonic attacks, its squad size and re-summon delay);
- enhancement tickets: the success rate of each tier, how many tickets the Darkened Kai'li and the Enhance Master drop, and how likely each tier is to be picked.
简介
DNF Enhance
- 每 5 秒朝附近的玩家投掷一枚点燃的 TNT;
- 玩家靠近它 2 格以内会被音波击退(10 秒冷却);
