Description
Domain Space
Domain Space is a player-centered moving spatial-domain mod for Minecraft Java Edition.
Instead of creating a separate dimension or teleporting the player somewhere else, the mod generates a large domain around the player and keeps that space centered on them as they move.
The domain extends roughly 25 blocks from the player in each direction, creating a large controlled area rather than a small personal shield.
Spatial Boundary Wrapping
The most important feature of Domain Space is that its boundary is not simply a physical wall.
When a mob or projectile from a ranged weapon attempts to enter the domain through one side, it is immediately transferred to the corresponding position on the opposite side.
For example, if something crosses the boundary approximately 25 blocks in front of the player, it will be transferred directly to the corresponding boundary approximately 25 blocks behind the player.
In effect, the space occupied by the domain becomes inaccessible from the outside.
Instead of entering the enclosed area normally, incoming mobs and ranged projectiles are forced to make a spatial jump across the domain.
From the perspective of something outside the domain, the space inside is effectively skipped.
This behavior has been confirmed with mobs and projectiles from multiple types of ranged weapons.
The system is also designed to work on other players. However, I have not yet been able to perform proper multiplayer testing because I currently do not have a private multiplayer server or a suitable multiplayer testing environment.
If you test Domain Space in multiplayer, feedback on player-to-player boundary behavior would be greatly appreciated.
Some other special object types have not yet been individually tested, so their behavior is not currently guaranteed.
Features
Player-Centered Moving Domain
The domain follows the player and remains centered around their position as they move through the world.
Multiple Visual Modes
The same domain system can be displayed using several different visual styles, including:
- Black
- Bedrock
- White
- Glass
- Transparent
- Barrier-based visualization
These modes change the appearance of the domain while preserving its core spatial behavior.
Visible Barrier Shell
A special Barrier visualization function allows the normally invisible boundary to be displayed.
This makes it easier to see and understand the actual limits of the domain.
Simple Keyboard Controls
K — Cycle through the domain's visual modes.
Shift + K — Toggle the Barrier visualization function.
No Commands Required
Domain Space is designed to be controlled directly during normal gameplay without repeatedly entering commands.
What Is Domain Space?
Domain Space is not intended to be a traditional Minecraft dimension.
The idea is closer to a section of space that has been isolated, folded, or spatially bypassed around the player.
The player remains inside the normal Minecraft world, while the domain creates a controlled spatial region around them.
For outsiders, attempting to cross that region does not work like crossing an ordinary wall.
Instead, the boundary redirects them across the enclosed space, creating the effect that the domain's internal space is effectively absent from their path.
Different visual modes allow the same underlying spatial system to appear dramatically different without changing its core behavior.
Inspiration
Domain Space was inspired in part by domain-like spatial concepts seen in The Legend of Hei, but it is not intended as a direct recreation of any specific ability or system from the series.
Its mechanics, visual modes, controls, spatial behavior, and Minecraft implementation were developed as an original system.
Current Testing Status
Confirmed:
- Domain movement centered on the player
- Spatial boundary wrapping for mobs
- Spatial boundary wrapping for projectiles from multiple ranged weapons
- Multiple visual modes
- Barrier visualization
Designed but still awaiting proper multiplayer verification:
- Spatial boundary wrapping for other players
Community feedback from multiplayer testing is very welcome.
Controls
K — Switch domain appearance
Shift + K — Toggle Barrier visualization
