Welcome to DragN’s Livestock Overhaul!

Livestock Overhaul is a survival-friendly mod that converts vanilla farm animals into more complex models and textures, along with a wide array of new features for them.

LO's biggest goal is to keep some of the vanilla feel of animals, while expanding on their uses and abilities so that they're more desirable to keep around. LO animals come with new features, drops, mechanics, and cosmetic options compared to their vanilla counterparts. Livestock Overhaul is built to be functional without becoming a burden.

New features include: 

• New animal colors, patterns, and breeds
• Fun, simple genetics
• Better, more worthwhile drops
• New food items, such as cow, sheep, and llama cheese, and different kinds of jerky
• Horse chest-ability 
• New horse armors and mount cosmetics
• Armorable mules, donkeys and camels
• Mount "Ground Tie" and locking mechanic
• Mount emotes
• Animal herding on horseback, and animals grouping up together naturally
• New animal breeds that affect their loot drop amounts
• Animal genders (configurable) that affect how they breed and byproduct production
• Fish Roe that can be hatched into fry for cod or salmon farms 
• Pullable wagons, plows for larger animals

Animals are converted automatically by the mod, and will spawn with variants based on their breed and the biome they spawn in. This mod does not affect vanilla animal mechanics whatsoever, as O-Animals are seperate entities.

This mod is compatible with Jade! You can use it to easily identify breeds and genders.

This mod is highly configurable in the livestock-overhaul-common.toml and livestock-overhaul-client.toml

This mod may be hard on weak computers. If you have trouble with FPS drops around O-Animals, try turning on the Performance Models config in the client configurations.

-Donkey & mule armor-ability

-Horse chest-ability 

-New ‘Netherite Horse Armor’

-Horse, mule & donkey ‘Ground Tie’ ability when saddled and carpet ‘blankets’

-Horses, mules and donkeys have emotes, such as Bow and Piaffe

-Animals have genders (configurable) that affect how they breed and bi-product production

Animals are converted automatically by the mod, and will spawn with random variants.

Q: Animations won't play or aren't playing correctly?

A: This is actually a Geckolib issue. Try turning off your Entity Shadows in both your game options and your shader options, especially if you're using a shader loader like Iris. You can also try turning off the Iris/ Oculus Geckolib Compat mod if you're on 1.20.1. We can't fix this issue on our end unfortunately.
