Description
Smoother chunks, less stutter
Driftload is a lightweight, client-side optimization mod that makes chunk loading feel smooth. It targets the exact moments Minecraft usually hitches: joining a world, teleporting, flying with an elytra, riding fast, or dropping into a busy server.
Most of that stutter comes from the game trying to load a huge batch of chunks all at once. Driftload spreads that work out over time so it arrives steadily instead of in one spike. It also clears distant chunks you have already moved past, and eases off when memory runs tight, so long sessions stay stable instead of slowly grinding into lag.
What it does
- Spreads chunk loading over time instead of all at once
- Clears distant chunks behind you to free up resources
- Backs off automatically when memory gets tight
- Runs fully client-side, no server install needed

Built to work with your setup
Driftload sits on top of the mods you already run instead of replacing them. It stacks cleanly with the common optimization stack and stays out of the way of the renderers that already handle chunk drawing.
Pairs well with Lithium, FerriteCore, ModernFix, Entity Culling, ImmediatelyFast, and Iris.
Runs alongside Sodium, Embeddium, and Rubidium, backing off where they already handle chunk rendering.
Supported versions
- Fabric: 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 26.2
- Forge: 1.20.1, 1.21.1
