## EarlyPotionSystem – Brew Potions Without the Nether
**EarlyPotionSystem** is a lightweight Forge mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 that solves a classic early-game frustration: you want potions, but you have not even found a Nether fortress yet, let alone a blaze spawner. This mod lets you start brewing useful potions using nothing more than a furnace, some cobblestone, a glass bottle, and common overworld ingredients — no blaze rods, no nether wart, and no trips to the Nether required.
---
### How It Works
The core of the mod is a brand-new block called the **Early Brewing Stand**. You can craft it on a regular crafting table using a simple recipe:
- **6 Cobblestone** + **1 Glass Bottle** + **1 Furnace** → **1 Early Brewing Stand**
Once placed, the Early Brewing Stand works similarly to a vanilla brewing stand but with some key differences:
- **Fuel**: It runs on coal or charcoal instead of blaze powder. Place fuel in the dedicated fuel slot and the brewing process will begin automatically.
- **Ingredients**: Instead of nether wart and blaze powder, you use common food items and crops that you can gather in your very first Minecraft day.
- **Output**: It produces special **Early Potions** — each providing a 30-second status effect.
The GUI is designed to closely resemble the vanilla brewing stand, complete with a horizontal fuel gauge, a vertical brewing progress arrow, and animated bubble effects, so it feels right at home in the game.
---
### Available Potions & Recipes
Each recipe requires one **Water Bottle** (placed in any of the three bottom slots) and one ingredient (placed in the top slot):
| Water Bottle + Ingredient | Resulting Potion | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Water Bottle + **Carrot** | Early Night Vision Potion | See in the dark for 30 seconds |
| Water Bottle + **Raw Beef** | Early Strength Potion | Deal extra melee damage for 30 seconds |
| Water Bottle + **Apple** | Early Healing Potion | Instantly restore health |
| Water Bottle + **Raw Salmon** | Early Water Breathing Potion | Breathe underwater for 30 seconds |
| Water Bottle + **Raw Chicken** | Early Mining Potion | Mine blocks faster for 30 seconds |
Additionally, the Early Brewing Stand **also supports vanilla brewing recipes** — so if you do have blaze powder, nether wart, glowstone dust, redstone, gunpowder, or fermented spider eyes, you can still use them to brew regular Minecraft potions just like you would in a vanilla brewing stand. This makes the Early Brewing Stand a fully functional replacement that grows with your progression.
---
### All-in-One Potion (Bonus)
Take all five early potions (Night Vision, Strength, Healing, Water Breathing, and Mining) and combine them on a crafting table to create the **All-in-One Potion**. Drinking it grants all five effects at once — perfect for preparing before a big adventure or a dangerous mining trip.
---
### Why Use This Mod?
- **True Early-Game Access**: Unlock potion brewing as soon as you have a furnace, stone tools, and some basic food. No need to wait until mid-game when you finally find a Nether fortress.
- **Vanilla-Friendly Design**: The block model, GUI animations, and brewing mechanics closely follow vanilla Minecraft conventions. It does not feel out of place.
- **No World Generation Changes**: Everything is crafted from existing vanilla items. The mod adds no new ores, no new structures, and no biome modifications — it will not break your existing worlds.
- **Progression-Compatible**: Even after you reach the Nether and acquire a regular brewing stand, the Early Brewing Stand remains useful because it accepts both custom and vanilla ingredients.
- **Lightweight**: The mod is self-contained and has zero external dependencies. Just install Forge 1.20.1 and drop the JAR into your mods folder.
---
### Creative Tab
All items added by the mod (the Early Brewing Stand, all five early potions, the All-in-One potion, and the custom tab icon) are conveniently located under a dedicated **"Early Potion System"** creative mode tab for easy access during testing or creative building.
---
### Installation
1. Install **Minecraft Forge** for version **1.20.1** (recommended: Forge 47.2.1 or later).
2. Download the `tutorial_mod-1.0.0-1.20.1.jar` file.
3. Place it into your `.minecraft/mods/` folder.
4. Launch the game and enjoy brewing potions from day one.
---
### Compatibility
- **Minecraft Version**: 1.20.1
- **Mod Loader**: Forge (47.2.1+)
- **Server / Multiplayer**: Fully compatible — the mod works on both client and server. Just make sure the server also has the mod installed.
- **Other Mods**: No known conflicts. This mod only adds new blocks, items, and recipes without modifying any vanilla behavior, so it should work fine alongside most other mods.

### Feedback & Suggestions
If you encounter any bugs, have balance suggestions, or want to request new potion recipes, feel free to reach out. This is an early release and I am actively working on improvements — more features and potion types may be added in future updates based on player feedback.
Happy brewing, and may your potions keep you alive on your very first night!
